Do you live in an apartment complex?

If so, do your landlords conduct monthly apartment inspections? My g/f and I received a notice on our door yesterday that they would be conducting inspections of each apartment on Thursday, today, and Friday. I looked out and notice everyone had one on their doors as well. They left that letter around 7pm at night. I feel that they should have let use know in the beginning of the week if not sooner instead of the night before. Also, I have a dog. Means, if I wasn't home I would have to cage my dog which I do not do. My dog gets free roam of the house. And if I wasn't to cage her I would get fined. Do you think that's fair? Do you like people coming into your home without your knowledge? Do you prefer to be in the home when the landlord or maintenance visits? I do. I do not like anyone in my home, especially with my dog. I feel that landlords should schedule a time and date when they need to visit your home that is convenient for the tenant. Not just when they feel like it. Whats your opinion?

I don't live in a Apartment anymore, but I used to. They do, do inspections sometimes and check things they used to do that to us when we lived in one. I would for sure rather to be home then not home when they come into the house I just feel uncomfortable with someone going into my place when I'm not there. You might want to talk to the landlord and ask them if it's ok if they go to your place when your there sometimes they will work with you on that.

When we moved and in since then I have stated that I would like myself or my g/f present during inspections, etc. I won't complain this time since today and tomorrow I am home while they will be doing such inspections. But when they do arrive I will re-mention that I would like to be present for future inspections, etc. So, hopefully they will get my drift. And if not, if they violate my needs, i will file a complain with the apartment association with no re-thinking that.
