This economy is killing me!

A year ago I was making my rent in a week at work. Now I am lucky if I can make it all month, taking into consideration eating and other bills I have to pay. I bartend, so I work solely off of tips. Has anyone else noticed how poorly restaurants are doing lately? What have you been doing to make extra money?

You are not the only one. My husband and i have depleted our savings account, and are now living pay check to pay check. I did not receive a raise, and the increase in state taxes, and the proposed expiration of the tax cut put in place during the Bush administration has increased my tax withholding from my paycheck. Add higher premiums for health care and I may as well have taken a pay cut. Property taxes rose so that is an extra bit out of pocket as well. I use all of my breaks and my lunch time on sites like this. I hope to make 30 or more a month from all of the sites combined. this is the only money that goes into our savings account. unfortunately, so many sites are no longer paying cash, and instead are using gift cards that money still is not going into savings.

Yeah, whenever I am not at work or doing housework I am looking for jobs online and trying to keep up with all of my sites. I just need to make more money! I had a good amount of savings and then my job stopped getting customers and I stopped making money. I now only have fifty cents in my savings account, and some other sad amount of money in my checking account.

The prices of staple foods and edible oils are going up.This should make menus and dishes in restaurants costly. Not only do you have less customers but the prices are up too. This is a double blow.I play the stock markets, without taking ANY risk, for some extra cash.

I signed up for an account with e-trade, but I know very little about the stock market and all that jazz, so needless to say I haven't made any money with it. Instead, lost about fifty dollars.

We all encouter financial problems especially in these hard times. However, I learned to live with it and I just ignore those problem. I just thank for all the blessings that I get.

I'd rather not ignore the problem, it will just become a bigger problem!

When I was young, I had used to work at two restaurant within a day. I worked as a cook in a chinese's restaurant at daytime from 10am to 4pm, then I worked as a dish washer at an Italian's restaurant at night from 6pm to 12 pm. It was the way for me to earn a living at my twenties.

I used to have three jobs at once! One of them I only worked at twice a week. One of them was monday through friday 9-4, then after was my third job, which was 445 to 1 am. I got laid off from my morning job and the two other places closed down.

It seems that this is really a global problem. Poor restaurants, how could they earn money when people like me can't afford to go out? For me the things are going down and down and now I'm scared. My job is not easy but I work also at home. I translate movies and I make subtitles. This spring most of the tv channels stopped to show new movies at least for a month. Now there is no much work. And the money they pay are not enough even for the food. I try to make some online earning but without a good success.

I make a few dollars here and there on the internet, but nothing too large. I wish I could find more ways to earn on the internet!

Everything is getting more expensive I've noticed, and in the UK tax is going to go up in a couple of months so everything is going to get even more expensive. I'm living on benefits at the moment so it's always been tough but it's getting harder and harder to make ends meet. I'm looking for work but there aren't that many jobs going so I don't know what I'm going to do. I use Mylot and have a few posts on sites like sqidoo but they aren't making a lot of money so it's more like a hobby than an income stream. I'm trying to find other ways to make money, I'm thinking of trying to become a "virtual assisstant" as I can type things up and design basic flyers for people and stuff like that, but I don't know if there's enough work locally for me to a lot doing that. And I bet lots of other people are doing the same thing so it will hard to get what work there is.

I have looked into jobs as being a virtual assistant and finding one isn't easy! There are websites where you can apply for it, but I haven't had any luck with those, at all.

Maybe consider getting another job or a different one. That's too bad, because I started going to bartending school a little bit ago, so I hope that's not what's going to happen all over - otherwise I shouldn't have paid money to start it. LOL. I recently went from being part-time to getting a different position in the same company, but full-time (with a pay increase) and so far that's been working pretty well. Of course I also have an on-call second job, which is really flexible when they have work (but they haven't had work for 2-3 weeks now!) Other than that, online work, and on the-side stuff like consigning clothes for money is how I make money. But mainly it's that primary full-time job that pays the bills.

I have been sending out at LEAST ten copies of my resume a day lately, and I have had a few interviews, but nothing has seemed to work out. Luckily my boyfriend knows I am hurting for money and hasn't asked me to pay rent. I never went to bartending school. Around here it's not what you know, it's who you know. You could go to bartending school around here and if you don't know someone who works in a bar, there's no way you'll get a jab as a bartender. I have been working on my etsy shop a lot lately, but I ran out of wire for necklaces and I don't want to spend money on more because I still haven't had a sale!

A lot of the paid surveys I haven't qualified for lately, or only want to pay out 50 cents for more than 25 minutes worth of work. That isn't worth it to me!

I now exactly what you mean, the economy isn't lighting up and it's not expected to any time soon. The restaurant business has been dropping you can see it especially Thursday nights and throughout the weekend. Restuarants that normally had a waiting time of lately have no waiting time or barely anything compared to before. Besides the fact that the people aren't making what they usually made because of this downfall, they don't take into consideration the cost of living that continues to increase. Lately I have been tryig to earn some extra cash online, hopefully that will help a bit.

Even though i have my own business already, i still do some extra work sometimes. This season i will earn a little or might earn me nothing at all in my rice farm due to typhoon just hit our country last week. So i need to make sure my 2 other business makes it well this month just to cover up everything i will lose on the other one. in the nature of my businesses, calamity is my worst enemy. Hopefully i could recover soon.
