Who is this male anime character?

I've come across this picture several times over the Internet, mostly in image websites. But I've never been able to find any information on him, or what anime he comes from. I know he has a bishi look to him, and his horse looks positively evil (in my opinion). I'm hoping someone from MyLot who loves anime like I do, would have some knowledge on this character?

It's not Tamahome from Fushigi Yugi, I can tell you that. I'm actually not quite sure if this guy is from an anime at all. He might be from an otome game or something like that. Or it could be some artist's original fanwork. It's hard to say. I know for a fact that I've never seen this character in any anime before and I've watched plenty over the years.

I didn't think it was from Fushigi Yugi. Though, I didn't think of otome games. If this is the original work of a fan, it's extremely well done, to the point of professionalism.
I've been looking through Otome game characters, and haven't finished going through all of them. I'm half tempted to contact Sunrise to see if they would tell me anything. Probably not, but it'd be worth it if they actually answer. And I won't know unless I try.

They are very talented. One of my friends has art work that looks like the work of a professional, and she's self taught. I haven't yet contacted Sunrise though. Circumstances and all. Still going to when I find time, and an appropriate address.

hmm it seems like a character from Karakudoji Ultimo, drawn in a sort of anime version.

If it's fanart, it's very well done. Though I've seen it across the Internet at various places, and there is no artist name. Usually, a fan artist will put their name on their work. So if it is the work of a fan, I can't figure out why he or she would not put down their name.

I looked up pictures of Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi. The manga version is similar, but it doesn't seem to match this character's eyes, or the armor he wears.. Anime styled Tamahome has black hair from the looks of it. Plus, he looks younger.
I admit they do seem similar though.. It's very puzzling to say the least. Makes me wonder why no one bothered to put his name down on the image when they saved it to the Internet.
