Three men go hunting and decide to stay at a small hotel. The night clerk checks the men in and then asks for the money for the room. THe clerk states that the cost of the room is $30.00. The three men each contribute 10.00 and hand it to the clerk. The men go to their room. Later, the owner of the hotel asks the clerk about the three men and when he finds the clerk charged the men 30.00, the owner becomes irate. The room should have cost only 25.00, so the owner send the clerk up to the room with 5 one dollar bills to make restitution to the men for his error. On his way the clerk decides that since each man gave 10.00, there is no way to divide the 5.00 evenly between the three men. So the clerk puts2 dollars in his pocket, knocks on the door and hands the men the three dollars and tellsthem the room should have cost 27.00 and that this was a refund. The men divide the three one dollar bills evenly and so each hunter has now paid 9.00 for the room, for a total of 27.00. The clerk has 2 dollars in his pocket. 27 + 2 = 29.00. Where did the other dollar go.
