I've come to a cybercafe now and I'm using my account from here. But I had just noted a little detail on the login page. There is a checkbox that says "public computer", but it's unchecked by default, basically saying that you're on your own computer. But here, I must make sure I remember to check it to protect my privacy. I think that sort of options should default to the most secure one, I know we all use more our home computers, but when we come across a public one, we want security, and not all of us remember that little detail. I remember of something like that on the Hotmail login, where the "remember my user and password" were always checked and you must uncheck them. Does this have happened to you? Have you thinked of the problems that that might cause? And to the MyLot staff, maybe it's a good thing to change in some future. Happy MyLotting to all!!!

yeah, there is always the risk of someone retrieving your password and personal details once you use a public computer. however, some big websites check the details of the current user if the account is being accessed in a different IP address or place. i am not sure if mylot has that, but i trust mylot that it has secured its website for possible account theft.

Just as an FYI we can log in from any IP and or computer so as long as we use our own ID and pword so it is of utmost importance to keep our log in information as it can be utilized by anyone anywhere and well their goes our privacy with it.

Yes, MyLot has those basic measures I think. If you login from a different computer, and then back to your own one, it logs out you and must enter user/pass again, as it seems to invalidate the cookies that save your session when you login from somewhere else. I agree with you hardworkingrurl that it's our responsability to keep our info safe from others, but that's not my main concern right now.

The reason why the computer where you are at has that option is because it recognized that it is being used by more than one member in a similar site so it is in a sense protecting you from not leaving it logged in so to speak. It is our responsibility to assure that we uncheck that feature. myLot allows us to use any pc and ip so as long as we make sure we use our own ID and pword at all times. But this does serves as a reminder to anyone who perhaps may forget and leave that option checked.

Yes it's has the choice, but the default is the unsafe as it marks as a private computer. I never seen that MyLot recognices a computer as public or not. But my question remains. Why MyLot does NOT checks by default the public computer option? To avoid mistakes on our part, just in case. We always may choce to lower our defenses in safe environments like our homes.

in reality i never joinded community, sites like mylot or personal account on shared or public computers as in cybercafe or others place!!in reality risks related to it are always a good issue to think before do it!!I noticed that some cybercafe took good security measures so in many cases depends from places..so on this purpose i think your mylot account is safe for the moment..

Some cybercafes and work computers mainly takes measure to prevent those, but the think I'm speaking about is that MyLot should too, in the form of the most basic form of the "public computer" checkbox, in addition to many other things it may do.

I always taking note of the security when I open my accounts, any account, using a public computer, even her at home.LOL. You'll never know who will access it and that you become an unsuspected victim because of being careless and lax. I haven't tried opening Mylot yet using a public pc because I have mine here at home. But i'll sure remember to check the necessary security options if ever I will use one.
