Good day to all mylotters. I was so happy when I received my boyfriend's gift for me for our anniversary. It is a netbook which is very useful for me. I have a desktop pc here but I cannot bring it to school when I need to do my assignment on my masters or do the paper work at the school where I am teaching. His gift makes me feel more comfortable. This is the first time I use a netbook and I am really careful in handling it. Do you have some tips on how must I use my netbook to make it last long? Does using it everyday is ok?

Congratulations on your gift! Don't let your unit be infected by virus! LOL! Quality laptops or even desktops last long so no worries. Let your anti-spyware, etc. be up-to-date to protect you from intruders.

Thanks mhypie for the suggestion. My boyfriend told me as much as possible never let anyone borrow this netbook or insert their flashdrive to this one because it is too dangerous.

It is true. I don't want to appear stingy about this one but sometimes there are things you must not lend easily to anyone especially if you want it always safe.

You can still let them borrow your laptop provided if they have some flash disk to insert or files to be downloaded, it has to come to your knowledge so not to compromise its usage and let it be scanned to prevent any virus, worms, trojans etc infect your computer system. But then if I were in your place, yeah, I won't lent it to anybody since several unwanted things like accidental slipping of laptops from your friend's hands blah blah can occur that can be so discouraging and disappointing and I guess you wouldn't want to feel that way especially if your boyfriend finds out about it.

hahaha. I feel so lucky, indeed and that what the rest of my family says to me also. However, I think I will be the luckiest once he gets the time to visit us here. Don't worry jennyze, you can have yours also. sooner or later, you will meet someone who will treat you very special too.

Tips for good handling of your Notebook are like this - * Operate the keys very softly. * Fully discharge the batteries upto 5% level during battery use and then use power, to do so, set the power alarm at 5% for battery use mode. * Keep / use your Notebook away from dusts, water, moisture, sunlignt, flame / heat, other electromagnetic / electronic equipments, vibrations etc. * When not in use, make your Notebook off and packed up. * Always use a soft cloth piece with your Notebook. * Clean your screen and key-panel at least once in a month by a branded spray cleaner. * Use a good antivirus program and scan your computer once in every week against virus threats. * Get your computer well formated in every year. * Do not allow children below age 10 years to operate your computer alone. * Every time you work with your Notebook, keep your hands clean and sitting stable. * Never run your Notebook for more than 5 hours in a single sitting. I hope, you will use your notebook in this manner to have its long life and faithful service! Thanks and have nice surfing!!

Thanks mitraa. Your post is very helpful. I realized recently that using my netbook for very long hours is not good so I won't do that again. I will just limit my time to 3 hours every time I have to use netbook. Thanks again.

Keeping it away from too much heat and dust is also good.

hi maharlikah, Yes, that is what I am doing right now. The first time I used this, I was so excited that I think I used it for straight 4 to 5 hours. well, because of this post, I become aware that is a bad thing. I also put the netbook inside its bag whenever I am not using it.

thanks for the response. How about when it is low battery? I have to connect it with netbook and with power, right? Is it ok to use netbook while battery is charging? Discharge battery once a month and then buy a new one? Is that what you mean?

Oh, I think using it once a month is possible. However, I think the maximum number I can use the battery in a month is 4 times because in the university where I am studying, they are not allowing us to use their power outlet so we are force to use the battery. 4 times because I am just attending my classes every saturday.

WOW! That's a big one! You are so lucky! Just be careful with your laptop and turn it off properly if you don't want to use it then do not charge the battery when using. take care!

hi littlemomma, Thanks for the suggestion. My bf decided to buy a netbook for me because according to him, it is much lighter compare to a laptop and aside from that I am not addicted to games so its ok. The time I did not turn this off properly is when it overheated and I heard sounds from my netbook. That made me scared. After that, I realized I must not let it overheat.

Wow nice gift!! So if the hardware is a qalite ones you can't worry much because was created to endure long time!!(if you don't throw in the water) as regards softwares common problems if you use windows just clean the system 1 per month, stay way from viruses, clean the registry and everything will be fine. So naturally you can use it everyday..pc are made to elaborate dates so don't worry...he is living...good luck with your new netbook!!

Whatever thing we have is,we should be careful with it. With handling and the usage. Always update your anti virus, scanned daily, delete cookies and clear the cache regularly. Defrag once a week to have your files always compacted. Never drop your netbook always handle with care and love since it was gifted by someone you love.

if you are using the notebook with cup of tea/coffee or else, keep it away from your keyboard. If you drop it on your keyboard, that could make motherboard damage
