do you wear a watch?

October 29, 2010 12:14pm CST
Do you wear a watch nowadays? I do but I think that is mainly habit but my children dont. They use their mobiles or ipods to see the time of day. To me it is much easier just to flick the wrist and see the time but they recon it is just as easy on the phone! Also with people using a computer, like now if you wanted to know the time you would just look in the corner of the computer to know it. I cant help thinking that in time, no pun meant, watches will be a thing of the past. What do you think

No, I don't. I feel I don't really need one, I can check the time whenever I want on my cellphone anyway, so that is what I generally do.

now you mention it you dont often see kids checking the time on a watch do you

Yeah, I agree. Most kids now would rather have a cellphone to check the time. They might even think that it is cooler to be seen checking a cell rather than a watch.

I don't really wear a watch anymore. It's not that I don't want to or something. The reason I don't wear a watch is because I feel more comfortable without one.

Well I don't wear a wristwatch cause like you saif using a phone or iPod is easier cause its digital and some people are too lazy to see the little hand and big hand anymore. Well I think most adults if you might say some of them may use wristwatches for style. I only speak from opinion but I don't wear wristwatches cause they can be uncomforatble and unesscary to buy unless a person has a cellphone or something digital nearby such as a computer.

I never thought of it by the buying of watches end as we have lots of watches about the house bought over the years. maybe if they were all damaged i would not buy a watch again but be forced to us "modern" time keepers.

Yes, I wear a wrist watch. It is not for fashion but for necessity & now it has become a part and parcel of my life. I cannot go out without it. Though everyone now uses a cell phone from which we can see the time. But as it has become a habit, people like us cannot think of doing without a watch.

I agree with you on that

I didn't wear a watch for years because they would stop. When I moved back to the Midwest, all of a sudden I lost whatever it was that was doing it and now I can wear one! But I generally don't. I don't like stuff on my body like jewelry and I rarely have to be someplace at a certain time. My life is very relaxed and unhurried. What bothers me is that most children can no longer tell time from a regular clock, they can't read the hands and numbers.

I'm not currently wearing a watch but I've been meaning to get a new one lately. Like you said, it is a lot easier to check the time by twisting your wrist then hunting for your cellphone. My last watch was banged up a bit with a bunch of scrapes and scratches on the glass plate. I think my next watch is going to be a sports watch because those are a bit more durable. But you have a point, I think more people are opting not to wear watches these days. There are so many other ways to tell the time now that they aren't needed. It's more of an accessory these days instead of a necessity.

but you dont find the price of watches going down that much though do you

Yes I always wear a watch. I got also a collection, but only wear one at the time. Actually in my family, also the kids wear them. Seems they got "infected" by me. I think also its much easier to just flick your right wrist. Also I beleive you need a watch to be on time. It just doesn't really work with cellphones.

For all of my adult life while working I always needed a watch. If I forgot to wear one I would feel naked. Now for the past 3 in half years with a cell phone there is really no need to wear a watch. I have several watches but I need to get a battery for each and everyone of them. As for watches being around I think they will because they have become a fashion statement and many are being worn as a bracelet these days.

I used to like wearing watches but I don't wear them now. I have a tendency to get allergies from the watch straps .
31 Oct 10
my daughter had a sort of allergy with watches and had to put a patch of material between her wrist and the watch to get it to work.

I have to say, I am one of those people that always has a watch on. I shower in it, sleep in it, swim it, and do everything with the same watch always on my wrist.
31 Oct 10

I wear my watch when I work and travel, but I don't wear it when I stay home. I like to have a look at the time when I work. It is more convenient for me to use the watch as it is on my wrist. A cell phone in the pocket does not make me feel comfortable. I am sure that watches will not ne a thing of the past so long as there are people like me. lol

I do,I wear my watch everyday, and when I dress different, then I will wear different watches ;-) the watch not only tells you what the time is it, it is also like our jewels, jewels can make all of us look better ;-) a good watch can make you more confidence, a pretty nice watch can make you good looking and suit with your clothes.

I never wear watches! If I want to check time, I just look at my mobile or clocks on the streets or in shops. Sometimes I try to read watches on people's wrists. I never find it inconvenient without a watch or difficult to keep track of time.

I do, I think it is better than using my cellphone for the time hehe. When I forget to wear my watch, I still look at my wrist, I can't help it, I am so used in wearing a watch. My sister don't, and I think a bad effect of always using mobile things for time is, people tend to not know how to read time from an analog watch anymore.

I used to wear a watch all of the time. It was mostly out of habit. No we have so many ways to keep time with us through the technology we use. i seldom have to wear a watch anymore.

Yes, I'm wearing a watch. It's easier and convenient for me to keep track of time than having to refer to mobile phones whereby I have it in my bag. Moreover, my company is quite strict with the usage of mobile phone during working hours, within the office and it's wiser to keep it out of sight. One more thing about watches is that, it reflects our social status and not everybody can afford the similar kind of watch. In my line of work, appearance is very important.
