I just had this annoying experience with one of the supermarkets I used to grocery to. They have a policy that upon entrance and exit they have to check on your bags and belongings. One time, after i finished my grocery and I was about to go to the exit I couldn't find my receipt. So, i told them i think I lost or dropped my receipt somewhere. But what they did was they held me at the counter and check all the grocery items. They even asked the cashier to reprint the receipt that i lost which took me wait so long. I was so offended and I told them that I will just refund my money but they insisted it's their policy. After that incident, I never go back to that supermarket again. What will you do if the same thing happened to you?

i would be super insulted and so would kick up a stink. Here in Canada that does not fly and if someone stops you to check your bag then they better be 100 percent positive the person stole something or crap would hit the fan. I have to admit I have seen this done to people here but I don't think anybody would approach me and do that.

Yes, somebody might think that i stole something from the store and that was really an embarassing experience for me. Our country is far more different from Canada. There are two supermarkets who apply the same policy here and i think if the owners are Chinese they always inspect everything from the customers. They are so suspicious.

I am sorry for what happened to you, this is really very bad policy, if they are doing like this, as you said you never went their after this incident, then there may be other customers who have faced this and they definitely ll have decided same like you. This is really annoying if some one check like this, there are other alternatives but I dont know why people having big supermarkets dont use technology for this purpose to avoid any type of misunderstanding...:) Have a good day...:)

That's very annoying. The cashier can simply just assured the guard that you pay, right. Even if it is a policy, they should take into consideration those who had just finished in the cashier. As if they can check every item if they're going to look for the receipt, right. Here, they'll check the receipt but never t=check the item one by one. So i think they made the situation a big deal, where in fact knowing that you pay can be enough for you to go out.

There's a place where I live called Sam's Club that checks your reciept with your item/items. They do a pretty good job and make it pretty simple for the customers. I would be really mad if that happened to me.
