How many hours a day do you use computer?

Philippines
November 2, 2010 2:11am CST
I think the maximum amount of hours to use computer would be 7 hours.... I only use it for like 2-3 hours. But my daughter used it for more than 6 hours today; which I think is unhealthy..don't you. Kids these days shouldn't stay all day in the computer because of radiation and it could ruin their eyes. Do you think I should limit my daughter's computer hours??

I can use mine about 12- 125 hours per day as I use it these days as my only source of income. Yes, it is a problem but I would not be able to earn otherwise so your 6 hours compared to mine does not seem like much. However if you think you are using yours way too much, I would say try daily to cut back by 1/2 hours and soon you will minimize it to way less then you are currently using. Good luck.

My six hours isn't that much compared to your 12 .. but for you it is a necessity so I guess it's okay. Do you use it for 12 straight hours?

Yeah, your right machine need to have a break too. Like us we can not continue on working, we need to rest a bit to recharge and for our eyes too. As you have said your computer is your source of income at the moment. Also once we are in front of our PC most of the time we lost track of time.

I do but I also take some breaks during the day to do house work and errands as well. But I have been known to sit for that amount of time which is really hard, however when we are on the net we have a tendency to lose track of time.

The first thing I do in the morning is to turn my computer on and the last thing I do at night, before I go to bed, is to turn it off. It is not that I am working on it the computer the whole time, as I have a husband and two kids. My computer is like my friend and entertainer and what brings me hope in the struggle to achieve something every day!

Well I guess, every member of your family uses your computer either for music, info search and others and the kids for playing games. Since computers have more functions it's really a necessity to have it on always. Anyway it doesn't mean that if your computer is on you are in front of it, so no problem I guess with too much exposure to radiation.

It's not her eyes I would worry so much about but her neck and back. My nephew was about 12 years old when he started on the computer and he is a genius when it comes to the computer. He taught himself and he can do anything an IT tech can do. He is now 17 years old and going to be taking a course next year to be an IT tech. But his neck and back are really bad from all the hours he has spent on the computer. He has neck spasms constantly and he sees a specialist for it. When you watch him on the computer he is always, constantly, jerking his head back and forth. He is trying to get it comfortable and can't. And his upper back is so bad. He is like an old man, he crunches his shoulders so forward he has a lump on his back from the bones sticking out so far. Doctor says it's all from too much computer. He was on his computer at least 10 hours a day and my sister didn't realize it. Same with his younger brother but his neck and back aren't as bad, but bad enough. He complains of being sore all the time. Cheers and Happy Mylotting my friend, Chris

I'm sorry to hear about your nephew's neck spasms. As you have said this is caused by longer hours using computer. Yeah, your right it's not the eyes that we should worry too much but the bad posture we get sitting in front of computers. Sitting properly while working with computer can help solve back and neck problems. But of course we should limit our time with computer if we can.

I use my computer a lot. I don't know exactly how much time I spend on my computer. I can't really give you a specific number, but I can say that it's usually a lot. I don't really pay attention to the amount of time that I spend on my computer. I do think that it would be safe to say that a lot days I spend a large portion of my day on my computer.

I guess there's still no known facts on how much harm do computer gave us if we spent longer time using it. But it's true that all that is too much is also not good. So if we can do something about it we should refrain from doing so.

Yeah your right, sometimes we can not say how much time we need to work with computer. Even though we want to lessen it, we can not do it because we have to especially if it's about our work. Anyway I think 4 to 5 hours is safe enough.
2 Nov 10
It depends on how much free time i have in the day. If i'm here on my own i rely on my computer to keep me entertained though as i get very bored just watching television because theres not really anything good on very often nowadays is there. I guess i spend between 4-8hours a day on the computer depending on if i'm at work on that day or not.

I guess your right, with so much we can do with the use of our computer most of us prefers it rather than viewing television. With computer you can play and download music, watch updated news, search for anything that interest us. Of course aside from the online earning some of us is busy with. Also most of the time we do forget the time if we are in front of our PC.Thanks for your time my friend.

I work in front of a computer so that's like around 8 hours. Plus at home maybe a couple more, totaling to 10 hours daily on weekdays.

As you have said, it's a necessity for you to have at least the most is 8 hrs using computer. I guess it's about your work, but if you were to choose I think you will spend less hours. I hope I'm right because all things that is too much is not good.

I only spend around 2 to 3 hours a day. This is because I don't have my own internet connection. I only connect to my cousins Wi-Fi

I guess 2 to 3 hours a day is just fine. But of coarse as you have said you have limited time because you have no internet connection at the moment. But once you have your connection I know your hours will increase because most of the time if we are in front of the computer we do forget the time.

I use my computer daily for at least five hours and the maximum of nine hours. This is because I have lot of things to do with my computer and this is my business partner online for two years already. Moreover, my computer is needed in school works and other purposes. In your case, I think it is advisable to limit the hours of using the computer for your children when it is not a matter of consequence or importance to them.

I have been use internet on my office about 8 hour per day. after some other activity, on the night i spend my time about 6 hours tho chit chat with my friend. maybe i ussualy use 14 - 15 hours today on internet. how do you think ?

While at work your in front of the computer for 8 hours. So I guess your use of internet is related to your work. At home you chat with friends, you said more or less 6 hours. I guess it's just normal chatting with friends and since you've just came home from work. It's some kind of de-stressing when you chat with friends after work.

I stay in front of my netbook in the last 5 months for 15-17 hours daily. I know it's not good for health, but my works are in this netbook world and it cannot finish within few hours only.

Wow, that was really long hours of work. Anyway if that is a requirement for your work I guess there is nothing you can do to correct your working hours. And sometimes when your at work you do forget the time.

Isn't she studying? Well, I used my computer at most 15 hours a day. That's because I'm working in my computer but on day off I would use it I think just 5 hours. Discipline your daughter (I don't mean here like hitting her or anything like this). What I mean here is tell her to be responsible and give her limits. If she grew up without being stopped from her habits, she would grew having those habits and is more likely to get problems. Shaping children while they are young will help them grow up responsible persons. Parents have the power over their children and must use it in the right place.

If you take sufficient rest so that your body, especially the back is OK,then there is no problem, what amount you spend on the machine. When you feel tired you should stop.Minimum 8 hours' sleep in normal position is a must.

Yes ,I agree with you..But the computer needs rest too as much as the person does. It's quite hard to keep a straight beck when using a computer though.. for me..

I use the computer more than 9 hours a day. Especially if i have work, on the average i have to spend like 9 hours in front of the computer. When at home, i would have less time in front of the pc.. but i would average up to about 3 hours checking email, downloading cellphone stuffs, etc. I wish to only be logged on the computer lower than that and be more productive elsewhere.. =( i can't find where i should be spending most of my time though as i have work that requires me to be on the computer 9 hours or more... =( i wish i can have my own business already

I think that I have the computer on pretty much every moment that I am present and awake. Whether I am actually using it or not, is another matter entirely. There are times where I am on the computer for many, many hours. I really don't keep track of how much time I spend on the computer. I think that most of the time I am on it, I am spending a lot of time but there are times where its on but really I am just playing music in the background on it and doing other things around the room. I think that children, yeah it might be a good idea to limit their computer time. Because even as an adult, it can be very easy to get side tracked on the computer. I would imagine it would be more so than children. Trust me, there can be a lot of time that can burned up. However, it really depends, it truly and certainly does, but yeah it really should be limited. Whether its unhealthy or not, I don't know and on a personal stand point, I really find myself not caring for myself personally. Not that I'd recommend spending as much time as I do for other people.

12 hours is my maximum time using the computer. I need to sleep so that I can use it the next day. It's not fun if you lack sleep. My head feels heavy and my eyes start to hurt. I am unemployed that's why I have a lot of time surfing the world wide web. Don't let your kid spend too much on the computer. I am 20 but I am wearing glasses because I spend a lot time facing the monitor. I read at dark places too. Tell her that the eyes are sensitive and it's hard going blind.

That's what i always tell her but she doesn't really listen well. But, really 12 hours? What do you do at the computer..? Yeah, sleep is very important.
