Hi! Apply to many jobs in Odesk as possible. It took me months before somebody hired me, but it's all worth it. Now my main income comes from there. Good luck!

I completely agree with you my friend. Desk is really, really tough to understand, at least for newbies. I think, such websites should be user-friendly. I too have registered there, but never done any activity there. I hope my account will at least get banned or will be deleted. I find it too complicated and quite difficult to understand. Now as far as your questions go, as getting hired or getting the job, its totally luck. There are some who get hired as soon as they register and in some cases, people have to wait. Secondly, you have to prove your worth to get hired and its a lengthy process. I think you should look for different websites. Let's add each other as friends and then discuss further.

I gave up on Odesk for the reasons that most employers there are bidding too low on the amount of work they wanted. You have a lot of competitors too who started way earlier than you so chances are slim because they already have a background, when compared to a newbie. Although if you bid for less, they may get you, but the question is will you accept an offer which is just $1 an hour? I think I would not spend my time to earn that amount to work for 8 long hours. I will not be crazy also to give up my job just to accept a $1 offer an hour. I make more money on participating to different sites and writing articles online and blogging. But if I am a professional programmer or something, maybe I will try to use Odesk as one tool to get projects, but I am not, so in short Odesk is not for me, thanks but no thanks

Hi rajesh! oDesk is a good site. Contrary to your impression, I find the site easy to use. You just need to invest some time in there too. In case you haven't yet, you need to do the following too: 1. Create a good profile. Give details on your skills and experience. I suggest you try to browse some of the successful contractors who have the same field as you. That way, you'll be given an idea what makes them stand out. Then compare your profile with theirs and assess in which area you need to improve on. 2. You will have to take some exams to support your claim for expertise or skill on certain area or areas. 3. Apply to as many project as you can or allowed. You have to be genuinely interested on them. The employers will just contact you when they find you suitable for the project or job. You will also receive a notification from oDesk in case you didn't get the job. Good luck! :)

Odesk is a very good source of income. I have friends who quit their office jobs and working now on odesk. You can choose hourly or fixed rate jobs. The payment of hourly rate is every week. If you are still a newbie on that site and no feedback from employer yet, bid a lower amount. Lets say, $ 1 per hour. You can increase your rates depending on your feedback. Choose another job aside from data entry. There are lots of applicant on data entry. I would advise you to take tests before applying. There are many tests that you can choose from their list. It is also one of the factors that the employer / buyer consider in selecting employees. Good luck.

Hi!!! Getting job in Odesk actually depends on few important things. The first one is your skill level. Second is rating. thirdly most of the employers would prefer to give the jobs like data entry ones to the trusted sources. Most importantly the jobs are allotted on the basis of bidding. I am sure that the work you have applied for is still open. There must a date of the closing of biding and then only will the employer will give the work. So, I would advice you to relax and keep biding for works.
