I gained about 20 lbs.

I finally got up the courage to get on the scale again for the first time in months! The last time I'd weighed myself was earlier in the summer.. and I'd hit my lowest weight ever. Shortly there after I cut back on working out, and stopped watching what I ate. I knew I was gaining some weight.. but refused to get on a scale to see how much. A couple weeks ago I realized I wasn't as strong as I had been when I was working out daily.. so I got back into it. I'm back to working out daily and eating better. So I got on the scale finally and discovered I'd gained back about 20 lbs. Not really surprising. I'm still only about 10 pounds above my original goal weight.. so I don't think it's terrible. And I learned from my mistake. The next time I go off my diet I will keep an eye on my weight and not let myself gain back so much! So now I'm shooting to get that 20 lbs off again.. and maybe even a little more (we'll see). How much have you ever gained back after going off a diet? Were you able to lose it again?

I don't diet at all lol The key is to not go on a diet but rather make small positive lifestyle changes over time. Diets - as you found out - don't work.

I spent a bit over 6 months getting healthy.. for the most part it wasn't a diet and I never called it a diet. What happened was my bad habits came back very slowly. At first it was a treat once or twice a week.. then it was a daily treat.. then it was a treat as often as I liked and as much as I liked.. so instead of a cookie after dinner I'd sit down with the package and eat until I didn't want anymore.

This is why I do not bake cookies often, or buy them. Once the package is open it just speaks my name, and I enjoy cookies and coffee so very much. There are other foods that do that to me as well. I made corn dip to go with the chili tonight, and it was awesome, and I ate way too much.

I had gained around 15 or 20 too. I had my gall bladder out several years ago. Before I had it out I was very sick and could not eat anything. While I was sick I lost lots of weight, like about 40 pounds! So I decided to not add things back into my diet. I ate super healthy and kept the weight off for years. But then my living arrangements changed and so did my work habits so I struggled keeping the weight off. Then when I finally got on the scale again I had, like you, gained back about 20 pounds!Anyway, I've been running again and I'm only about 10 pounds away from that again! yeah! I'm on my way - but boy after you get off the eating program it is so hard to get all that discipline back!

For sure, that's what it has been for me as well. It feels so much better really no matter what the scale says!

With knee surgery looming, I am trying to be really careful. I gained about 15 back a few months ago. Most of that is off now. I notice how much better I feel lighter. So I will keep staying with it..holidays looming we will see how well I keep that promise!

I kept my weight off quite a long time, gained a few lbs back, but when I had children all bets were off. One of these days I may lose it again. One measurement you might want to use in addition to lbs is inches. If you gain a few lbs due to gaining muscle, but you haven't gained any inches, that's probably not a problem.

I can't do inches.. it's depressing! My tummy will always be big and poofy due to the pregnancies and weight gain.. it's mostly a lot of extra skin which I can't afford to have removed. This weight gain is definitely fat and not muscle.. I actually lost a small amount of muscle mass due to not working out as frequently.

I am working on it. LOL. I used to be about 20 pounds thinner naturally, and I stepped on the dreaded scale a couple of months ago and was really shocked and saddened that I managed to gain 20 pounds! I could ultimately do probably about 35 pounds, and that would put me at a much better weight, but for now I'm just focusing on losing the 20 that I put on from a couple of years ago. It kind of just makes me wonder, what am I doing wrong? Or rather, what WAS I doing wrong? I've generally been a healthy eater and exercise maybe 2-3 times a week, over the course of the past year or so. So I was kind of a shocking realization. But what can you do, but pick it back up again? I'm sure the 20 pounds will fall off quickly for you though.

I've been pretty lucky in that I've never really been a yo-yoer when it comes to my weight. I was at a pretty heavy weight when I was at college and decided that I needed to make a change. I lost a pretty good chunk of weight then and got pregnant with Kathryn which led to some weight gain, lost a size after Kathryn was born and stayed there. Got pregnant with Paul and only gained one pound throughout the pregnancy. Lost 27 pounds and right now I am again in a holding pattern.

I have no been much of a yo-yoer either. I stayed about average up until I got pregnant with the twins.. that is when I put on a lot of weight. I could not drop that weight. I tried a few different things but didn't stick with them long enough to drop any major amount of weight.. usually 20 was as much as I could drop. I'd get frustrated and depressed and go off the diet and gain that 20 back.. maybe a bit more too. Then I'd even out again back to my usual heavy weight. This is the first time in my life I've been able to drop a decent amount of weight, and I got back down to my pre-twins weight.. and actually 4 sizes smaller than I was back then. Hopefully I can stay in this range now.

I have seldom had successful diets, but have been consistently on my way up for a long time. Right before I met my current husband I had actually lost about thirty pounds through being more active, no real diet. At my heaviest, earlier this year, I actually weighed almost fifty pounds more than when we met. He likes to cook, and eat out and thinks larger women are attractive. I had lost about sixteen pounds before we went on vacation. I note that I am back up four, but we spent a lot of time in the car and not very active. I imagine that four will drop quickly and maybe I can lose more before Thanksgiving.

i cant remember when was the last time i got on a weighing scale.. i've come to a point i dont really care how much i weigh anymore.. but i do watch what i eat.. how much i eat.. just dont want to take too much trouble taking notes of how much i weigh.. i know i should - esp. to know if i am overweight - so that i could some of the weight off.. but.. too stressful..
