Trying To Find An Old Friend On Facebook...

Back in high school I was really good friends with a girl in some of my classes. We only went to school together for a year, but in that year we were really close. Unfortunately her mother did not approve of her being my friend because we weren't the same religion and she was afraid if her daughter hung out with me that her daughter might convert to my religion! (Which is absolutely ridiculous... but her mother was raised a certain way and didn't like people that were different than her.) So her mother forbid her to see me, so we only really saw each other in school. She wasn't allowed to call me or see me outside of school. (She technically wasn't allowed to spend time with me in school, but her mother couldn't really control that so it still happened.) So I didn't hear from her at all during the summer because of her mom. When we returned to school in the fall, I'd heard that she moved to a different state. Which her family moved a lot so that was extremely likely. I haven't heard or seen from her since. I thought that now that we're both adults, I'd like to get in touch with her. I've tried to find her on Facebook, but she has an extremely common name! Plus her family moved around so often that I have no idea where she'd be living now! Today I found someone with her name on Facebook. Her profile was set to private so I couldn't see if it was my friend. And her profile picture was of a bunch of people that were all so small I couldn't even see anyone's face so I really couldn't tell if she was in the picture or not. I browsed through her friend's list and found someone that had gone to my high school! And she was living in the state that my friend was originally from! The year she graduated from high school was listed in the public part of her profile... and it was a match for my friend too. So I sent her a message asking if she was my friend from high school. I just got a response saying that no, it's not her. I'm kind of bummed because I thought I was so close!!! Oh well, I guess I'll have to keep looking! Do you use Facebook to try to find old friends? Is there a certain friend you really want to get in contact with but are having trouble finding? I want to hear your stories!
