The power of Compliment, do you use it?

Hi Friends, It’s easy to get so caught up in your busy life that you neglect to compliment others on their efforts and accomplishments. The intriguing thing is what a powerful impact a compliment can have on both the giver and the recipient. I used to observe a very senior guy (may be 50 years old) working on brhalf of reception lady or doing some Admin work here and there. He does not talk much just does his job as suggested. I did not know that he is working with this company since the company came in existance. I felt very good for him and from that day I respect him for his honesty and dedication to the same company work. Today I went to him and he was very polite. I spoke to him for more than 30 minutes about his experience working with this company and what changes he has seen down the years. He was very happy to share his experience and every time he shared something I said thanks and appreciated in few words. he said "You maid my Day", no one discussed so long about my work and life except my family. Now whenever I meet him, he looks much more confident and smiles very often. He will ask about my work and life after office. I asked him if higher management appreciates his contribution to the company, he said that it's his dedication and faith to be with the company irrespective of any good words or appreciation. I got that not much appreciation has come to his way. He may not have needed a compliment to know he was doing a good job, but he certainly didn’t seem to mind hearing one. And though I had intended simply to make him feel good, what surprised me was how good his reaction made me feel. Yet it was so easy. Just a simple expression of appreciation. Do you appreciate people around you? Do you get appreciation for things you accomplish?

The power of appreciating is too good and creates great impact. Everytime a person has been appreciated will be happy. The person who appreciates will not loose anything but will gain a person for sometime. Its a good habit to appreciate. I feel everyone to cultivate the habit which is more powerful and very much required. Appreciate all small things and you win friends. They will be loyal to you and hence you get appreciated.

True, smile, thank You and other words of appreciations does not cost anything but leaves great impact on the one who is receiving it. Appreciation are few words that produce positive energy and cost too less to be expensive. Thank You for sharing your views.

I am no longer That shy. Whenever I see a person wearing a piece of clothing I like , I tell them. At my work we have a " Thankful for.." envelope. Anyone can write down what they are thankful for. I use it often. When I see a co worker has a new hair cut, I Always say how I like it! And in return I am given compliments too. I say thank you . It feels so good.

Thank you Sarah, keep going that way and wish you great time ahead.

Complimenting somebody for the favor they have done is something that boost their self esteem. Even the word "thank you" can do a lot to a person's confidence. As i grew older i learned to appreciate the people around me even in the simple things they do. I'm also setting it as an example to my kids. But as for me, I don't really expect from people whenever i do them favor. If we do it with sincerity we should not expect from others to compliment us because we'll just get disappointed.Let's do it with joy and for GOD. For HE is the One who will reward us.

I love compliments. I love giving and receiving them. Compliments are like smiles then can lighten up one's grumpy mood and can make someone feel appreciated and noticed. What you did was a great example of giving compliments and respect to people who truly deserve them. I think that receiving compliments make you happy but giving them makes you feel good about yourself as well. It's a form of expressing your fondness and respect and doing something that makes someone lighten up is always a good thing. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

It feels good to make some one smile, I try to be nice to everyone around me and give compliments whenever there is a room for that but false compliments does not make me happy. If I know that someone is complimenting me just to get some work done however I do not deserve the compliment, it will not work for me. Thank You for sharing.

Yes, i am always generous with my compliments. Besides , it's my nature to express my appreciation aloud. I always compliment my officemates on their new blouses or dress. Specially if they look good in it, i will tell them so. If the food is delicious, i would say so. I would compliment anyone who has done a good work. A compliment thrown on you first thing in the morning will really perk you up the whole day. Hence, i always compliment anyone on anything good about them or the office itself. Compliments reaffirms our confidence . That's why when we give a compliment the recipient becomes confident of himself and will work hard to maintain the compliment.

Yes dude... You are right.... The power of compliment is too good to miss... I do appreciate people around me whenever I feel they are doing a good job.... Especially while organizing things in my college there are many such opportunities... And yeah... I do appreciate them.... When you give a compliment truly from the bottom of the heart... Then you surely get closer to that person.... And coming to people appreciating me... At home and at college I get a lot of such appreciations.....

Hello my friend. I try my best to compliment someone who made something good for me or if i saw him or her do something pretty good to anybody else. A simple thanks or good job or a mere smile is what i try to do most of the time. Its not just being civil for me but i think some people forget the fact that acknowledging someones deeds have a huge impact on that persons life. Weather we see it or not someones life is touched whenever we say thank you or just a simple compliment for whoever it is that made things much more easier for us. Thank you for sharing this wonderful topic and im hoping to see more of your work pretty soon my friend

Hi Ajay, Complimenting for a good job done and thanking for a favor received will do wonders. As a management person,I say people have very little or no desires from unknown people,Thanking them and complimenting them would definitely boost their confidence levels and would energize them for the next moment. I do keep complimenting my staff for even a small positive thing they do. Wholeheartedly compliment and it works wonders. Happy living
