I miss my friend whom I met in my previous work. She's fond of cooking. She always told me when she feel stress she loves to cook and it help her relieved the feeling of stress. Well I love it when she cook, because I'm fond of eating. And every thing she cook taste great. Now I really miss her, she's now practice her teaching course near her place of residence. And we rarely see each other. I just missed the way she treated me. She always asked what food I want and she will cook it. And in our diner even our break time isn't the she will wait for me and we will eat together, then we will take a nap.How I wished I could be like he, she find cooking as a way to relieved stress. How about you? Do you find cooking to relieved stress too how?

Hi mayrah, you are missing your friend. Cooking was her hobby. She had a magnetic force; you were in the range of that magnetic force. You use to meet, she use too cooks and you use to eat the delicious dishes of her hands. But now she is a teacher. You should approach her and learn the cooking. This may cause to meet you again. You should make a schedule to meet her once in week. You should cook and you both should eat. If you learnt cooking this will make you attractive for her. Yes, this is possible. You can do it.

I never thought of it like that, but I suppose it is true. I'm not a huge fan of cooking myself. I used to cook for a living in the Air Force... for me it just wasn't something I wanted to do on my own time. I suppose if I could get that image of the work aspect out of my head I could buckle down and enjoy it. But I prefer writing when I get stressed. That or knitting. If I'm mad I play the piano. For each person it would be different.

i often find that cooking does relieve stress. i find baking for myself and my family very theraputic (however it is spelt). although i am not sure whether it is the cooking or baking itself or if it is the eating of the food i cook. i love to see other people enjoying my cooking though. i often bake for my husband and son. my son especcially loves it when i bake

No I don't find cooking is a stress reliever for me. Not that I don't like cooking but when I am stressed I would much rather be lazy and not do anything at all, except eat. When I don't feel like cooking my daughter will cook or we just eat something simple, no stress about it. I like cooking though. I like to cook special things that take longer to prepare, things like home made chicken soup or cabbage rolls or perogies. Then I will cook a lot at once and freeze some so we can have it when ever we want it. I don't even buy soups anymore in the store. I cook a pot of home made soup every Saturday, which is today and I have a pot of chicken stock on right now simmering, and I freeze it into little containers and have it every day when I get home from work. I get home from work around 3 in the afternoon and it is too early to eat dinner and I am always a little hungry so I have some soup to tide me over till dinner. I have been doing this for about the last 5 years and just the other week I heard on the Doctor Oz show that we should always eat a little bowl of soup before our meals so we will eat less when we have our meal because we won't be so hungry. So I have been doing something right all these years and didn't know it. lol So to answer your question, no I don't find that cooking is a stress reliever for me but I do enjoy cooking. Good luck my friend and happy mylotting Chris

hi mayrah I like to cook too but just for myself as I dislike a lot of mean comments on the way I cook. I do it for myself, rather I should say I did it for my self . NOw I am in this tiresome retirement center and have to eat or not eat what they serve us. no more of my special spaghetti and meat balls with lots of good tomato sauce with lots of garlic and basil, oregano, and majoram in it.But no cooking is not what relieves my stress. mylotting is really.

Hi, For me,when I am having any stress, I won't choose cooking as a way for me to relieve my stress, but then I will either sleep or out for shopping to relieve my stress. I do love cooking and I do cooking everyday for my family. But my cooking skill is not that good and I really need to learn more in order to cook more nice foods. Since you miss your friend alot, then give her a call or either chat with her online.

Hi shia! I would say it depends on my mood. Sometimes when I'm stressed I don't want to cook because cooking can be stressful especially if your having company over or you're making a big meal like Thanksgiving, which I will be making in two weeks. And then there are other times like during the Winter when it's really cold outside and I want to cook something that will help warm up me and the house! I really like to cook and in the Winter I also bake.

Yeah she said right thing to you ... But not all the time cooking can give you relief as it may be it's your need and you have come from so much stressfull work ...that it won't give you any. But most of the time it can relieved stress and make you ready for some new session of work like eating too...lol I also like to cook some time and feel very nice after cooking but you know I eat that food like duty ... so thinking to eat after cooking gives me much stress... Thanks...

I bake sometimes to relieve stress. I'm not a very good cook, though. My dad, on the other hand, loves to cook to relieve stress. He'll often make salsa or sushi, and he tries to make new stuff all the time. He thinks it's a ton of fun. I'm sorry you don't get to see your friend often- that's always hard.

I love to cook too. I would like to learn a lot but I dont have time to learn. It's really great being able to cook a food that a lot of people will appreciate. when I get older and I have all the free time in the world this is something that I would like to learn and just cook for my family..

i really do love to cook, it isn't because the fact that it relaxes me but i truly do enjoy cooking. Obviously as i am a single parent i make sure that myself and my son eat properly, i cook everyday and yes i guess sometimes i do get stresed and yet i do feel as though cooking does relax me. It is just like i enter my own world when i start to cook. So i guess it seems that if you ever are stressed and feel stressed then it is best to get into that kitchen and start to cook, i guess if you take your cooking seriously then you will get plenty of enjoyment and you will completely forget about all the stress that you have.

Yes I really agree with that! Instead of cooking, I like to bake cookies and cakes. I don't really like to spend whole day reading my books. I'll get some time to do things that I enjoy most. Haha, maybe I enjoy both eating too.

I am not a regular cook! but now having read your posting, I think I cook every time when I am having some stress.I just ask my wife to take rest for some time and ask her to permit me to use her kitchen for a while. I then prepare some non vegetarian dish which I am fond of. Mainly I prepare this for my wife and son, than myself, because they like my cooking. I enjoy the process of cooking. In fact now I feel because we forget every thing around us while cooking, we concentrate on cooking which involves many steps and needs lot of skill, concentration and imagination. I use different spices and different vegetables and every time I come up with a different style of cooking which makes me happy and the cooking event becomes a celebration for me. The only problem which my wife faces is that, she always complains that I make the cooking platform dirty and I leave it in too messy state. Now I feel proud to say that I have learnt how to keep the platform clean while cooking. So,in nutshell I love cooking and I love my family members enjoying the food cooked by me. Now having gone through your discussion I realised that cooking can be a real stress relieving act!Very soon I am going to make some new dish, if I feel stressed! LOL ! Thanks for initiating such a nice topic of discussion!

Yes it is, but the weather should also suit. if its highly sweating i hate to cook. I love rainy or winter season, where I can remain warm by standing in front of the gas stove cooking exotic dishes.

For me it may help in releasing your stress if you are used to it. Me too I love cooking but if I'm not in the mood to cook I could not make as good as when I am inspired to do it. People who loves cooking normally cook a perfect taste of food.
