this is so silly. I just got a call from some survey associates They ask me if anyone over 18 was in the house to answer some marketing questions. I said how did you get our number? she said, I dont have it, its dialed automatically and at randome !! I said, well what do we get for answering these questions, and she said, You dont get anything?!HUH!? so i said, why would I waste my time to answer questions for nothing? LOL!! So, she said, I dont know and I said "Take us off the list or automatic dial.ok?" she said they would. Do you think they will? I doubt it. Have you ever gotten a call so rediculous that they think you'd waste your time for nothing? This is so annoying. its a whole new thing. calling just to waste your time for their convenience. Geesh! I dont like to be mean, but this was just to much. I did laugh though. it was probably annoying to her but I couldnt help it. I wouldnt want to have such a stupid job. but then I guess any job will do these days.

We mainly get them now by answering Machine so as soon as they say 'Do not hang up' I hang up lol But I am so fed up with being woken up by these calls when I have a sleep in the afternoon, I wish they would stop lol

i know what you mean. every now and then i get tired for a nap. if i fight it and stay up, no one calls and its quiet, but if i go to take a nap... people call, dogs bark outside, or my dog gets jumpy..

Those telemarketers are so determined. I saw someone suggested you put your number on the National Do Not Call List. We have registered our number on that, however they still would call. I have heard that they can get a fine for up to $500.00 for each time they auto dial a number as those numbers should be blocked. Of course, you can do that if a number shows up on your caller id, but if no number shows up, I don't know how you can report them.

I get these calls occasionally. I also have my phone's ringer turned off now so I am not bothered. Whenever you sign up for ANYTHING online the company sometimes sells the telephone numbers to surveying companies among others. And, yes dont we just love the automatic dialers? I used to work at Big Brothers, Big Siters and they used a auto dialer. Same number would come up over and over if the people didn't answer. Ugh!

I wouldn't answer any questions from some one that I don't know, especially not the phone. If you haven't already done so, you might want to register your phone number at the Do Not Call Registry (https://www.donotcall.gov/). This is a FREE service to get your name removed from these solicitation lists. You can just bet that if you are on one list, you are on several. I don't believe that many of these places really dial randomly. Since time is money, it doesn't help them to call numbers which may be businesses or non-working numbers. It's on a list somewhere. I renew my number once or twice each year. I enter contests and surveys online which tend to re-add my number to some of these lists. Good luck!

Many of these telemarkets will automatically hang up if a machine answers their call. If you screen calls this way, it at least avoids the need to talk to them.

Well, here's another idea. If you happen to get another one of these calls, start the conversation with, "I'm SO glad you called! I just recieved my new Avon** catalog and want to go over some exiting new items!" Then make up stuff, but just keep talking. Don't let yourself get interrupted. When this happens, you can then do a new discussion on how fast these people hang up on you! ** Or auto insurance, or anything else you can thing of.

You are definitely right that with the economy being as it is, any job is better than no job at all. However, just like you, I wouldn't want to have her job. There is a market research company here in town that will call from time to time to do screeners to get people to come in and do research panels with them, and I will go through all of those questions because the reward if you are accepted onto the panel is great. The last one that I did I made $100 for a little bit over two hours of my time.

Honestly, I hate being bothered by phone calls, and if I see I number I do not recognize on my caller ID, then ordinarily I don't pick up the phone. But during the campaign period before the election I wasn't paying attention and I picked up the phone when it rang. It was a phone call asking for my opinions on politics, and I did not feel like talking about any of that, so I told them I was busy and I hung up. And no, I do not know where they got my number or why they chose to call me.

and if you ask them they lie and say it was dialed randomely. they should know no ones going to believe that one

I got one of these phone calls last month and they kept me on the phone asking me questions for over 30 minutes. And some were kinda personal. To personal if you ask me. But a job is a job as you say..I don't really ever do them, don't know why I did that one..I must have been seriously bored.

These used to happen all of the time. Years ago. And they never would take no for an answer. You are right, though, I will not do that. My time is valuable.

They have to take your number off of their calling list because they know they can be sued if they don't and end up calling you again. Have you put your number on the do not call list? If you haven't, you sure need to. The site is just as we call it, donotcall.org or .com, not sure which. You can add your cell phone number as well. I agree, it is a job nonetheless, for these people and it puts food on the table BUT as long as it's not YOUR number they're calling. lol

If you're on the no-call list you can report them, assuming you have their company name and phone number. Those calls are so annoying! I just quit a survey site that used to pay well but no longer. I told them that and they emailed me and said many people enjoy giving their opinions and don't expect rewards! What?! Geez, if I'm going to help a company increase their business I expect some compensation! I would not want her job. There are too many people like me who give them a piece of their minds for invading their homes and their privacy.

right and as my daughter used to tell me some really rag you out about it. she sometimes had the evening shift and they'd say, they had just sat down to dinner and what the heck was wrong with her. poor thing. it was her job. i try to remember this when dealing with them but sometimes i cant help myself

I can't imagine ever taking a job like hers as I would imagine no one would have absolutely nothing to do with their time then to sit and answer survey questions especially if there is no incentive. I can imagine some people even being so rude that it would frustrate me terribly. As I would want to snap back and know that for the sake of my job I couldn't.

yes, my poor daughter used to have to do that and most work days she was quite testy when she got home. and shes the tough one. she sold weatherized siding for 7 yrs over the phone! i asked once if she thought i could get a job there and she said, "mom these people talk so mean to you sometimes, you couldnt handle it. you'd be crying every day"
