If You Need a Driver's License You'd Better Come Quick!

Our (soon-to-be-gone) great Governor Bill Richardson, yeah, the same one that ran against Obama for the Democratic Candidate for President in 2008, and our Democratic Legislature passed a law allowing anyone to get a New Mexico Driver's License. The reasoning...safety. No proof of citizenship, nothing...just pay and it's yours. I just thought I'd let you know, if you need a Driver's License, you better get it quick, because our new Governor/Legislature are going to kill the law. How's the law worked? hey I have some customers that lost their licenses (dui), do you think that would work?

They don't check residency, they don't check citizenship...why check for DUI... It would be worth a try...

Yeah, but I think there's a Spanish version. I sure hope they can tell the difference between Alto and Stop.

I call it stupidity. I seriously doubt they had any proof, before passing the law, it would mean safer drivers on the road. Good morning, Gabs, hope all is well.

So what is the problem? With a drivers license you can get a bank loan, a job, board the airlines, enroll in welfare programs, and vote. What more do they need, there is no need to go through the red tape to become a citizen. this way the get all the benefits with out the hassle.

No problem, except I'd rather get the bank loan, the job, to be able to board the airlines without a hassle, enroll in welfare programs and vote without any red tape... For the illegals, I'd rather they just go back from where they came.

I don't know how it works but I do know that it has been in effect her for a while. Mexican immigrants can get a drivers license here without a social. The DOT is a madhouse in my area and you can pretty much bank on an all day wait if you have to go. I don't like it because when I go..I have to have proper identification.

Here you can get one without proof of citizenship, proof of residency. It's always a madhouse at DMV. Thank God they switched to 8 years between licensing. Thanks for your comment, JenInTN.

Hi Hofferp. I just can't see how any state would do such a thing. When it gets like this all over the US there will be all kinds of people here that isn't citizen's this kind of stuff makes it not safe. Hope you have a great day too.
