Oh my it came close to b eing Friday the 13th but no its Saturday the 13th instead.Hi do any of my fellow mylotters get nervous on Friday the 13th? I have never really had any great superstitions about Friday the 13th myself. In f act some times really good things have heppened to nme on Friday the 13th.In fact for me the 12th seemed more filled with some irritating things. First I go to get reassessed as a rider on the Access bus. My five years were up. they told me it would take three hours. okay my appointment was 9:15 so I get there at nine o clock am and am told to take a seat. Hurry u p and weight, an hour later 10 ;15 I am interviewed. the interview lasted not an hour but ten minutes. okay. So I am told to take a seat and they would call me when my bus arrived. So I wait and finally I really had to go so asked the receptionist if she would hold the bus for me if it arrivedc while I was in the restroom. Did not need to worry. 11:45 my bus arrived. okay not going to be there in time for lunch. So we crawl through Anaheim past Disneyland as the streets were all torn up for new water mains.I arrived here at noon, came upstairs to eat ritz crackers and cheese for lunch. the hallway was dark, power had been off and was slowly coming back. just what I needed, my computer would be booted off the net from the electricity being off. I booted up and everything seemed fine. so started to respond to a discussion here and got the problem loading. I was indeed off the net. but shaking a bit I went through the routine to reset the modem and router after I had shut down the computer. I waited a minute before each step then a minute before booting up. Got back on and voila I was on the net. did it myself and in one time. so my friday the 12th was the one full of glitches instead of a friday the 13th. your views please..

I'm not bothered by such things. So Friday the 13th doesn't mean anything to me. But I know there are people who have such superstitions. In fact, in my country they have superstitions about Tuesday the 13th, not about Friday the 13th. I don't really know what might be the reason to be afraid of such a day, it's a day like all others, after all. Today was a typical Friday, nothing new, nothing unusual. Except for the experience that I'm doing right now. I'm trying to bake a cake and I hope it will be a good one. Let's see if my Saturday 13th is a good day until the end of the day.

hi inu my husband firmly believed that Friday the 13th was his l ucky day. and oddly often it was but I think we trigger our own luck or misfortune by the way we act on a special day. Hope your cake comes out especially good ajnd nice and high and yummy too.

You're right about the way we trigger our luck or misfortune by the way we act on a day. I had a colleague back in high school, she was born on the 13th of February and she allways said that the 13th of each month is her lucky day. And she was. As I said before, I don't pay attention to those superstitions, for me each day is a lucky day. It has to be so! You see, it was a lucky Saturday the 13th for me. My cake came out good, especially that it was my first try to bake a cake using the bread making machine. I only needed to put a little more sugar in it, but that's how it happens at the first attempt. If it escapes my husband, I'll make some photos of it and upload them here if you don't mind.

I've never had anything bad happen to me on a Friday the 13th! I had a dog that was born on a Friday the 13th, and he was such a good, nice, sweet, friendly dog! In fact, he was born on November 13th, so his birthday would be today! I just like Fridays! I don't care what the date is that falls on a Friday!

hbni trickiwoo I have never had anything bad happen either except for tht paint incidence when I walked under a ladder, jostled the leg and the c and made the can of paint upset and spill all over my hair, my red sweater and red skirt but it was my own careless in bumping the leg of the ladder. the painter tried to save the paint but instead it just spun out of control, upset and dumped paint all over me. I was just lucky that it was latex and I could wash it out of my hair and clothes. i

I always looked at it that if Friday the 13th was unlucky, then every day of that month would be unlucky. So, I do not have time for that, and I do not worry about Friday the 13th. Road work seems to be a mess all over the country this year, so I am not surprised to hear that it is a problem there as well. I am glad your interview did not take so long, too bad they could not get a bus there to take you back quickly. It does sound as if you had a bad Friday the 12th.

Yes my friday the 12th was not one of my more fun days. waiting is so boring and the length of the roadwork was amazing. they are putting in new sewers under street. traffic was at a craw. we oozed past disneyworld at a crawl and oh the traffic, lots of travelors from out of the country on their way to Disneyland.Too bad we could not have detoured through there on our way home. But I found that the new internet card on my mother board is working as all I had to do was unplug the modem and replug it then wait a minute and do the same with the router. this while the computer was turned off. then rebotted and I was back on line and could mylot again.today seems to be a great day for me and myson is here visiting so its really wonderful.

That sounds like a very disruptive day! Why was the electricity off?! I heard yesterday that California was getting a lot of rain, was that the cause? My Friday was uneventful. I always look at Friday 13 as a lucky day and it usually goes very well!

hi dragon54u I think Alex the grouchy housekeeper blew a fuse when he used his floor cleaning machine up here on the second floor. he was trying to strip the wax off the floor. We had a lot of rain about ten days ago now its dry again. My husband always claimed Friday the 13th was his lucky day. it was also the day we met for the first timel lol lol oh can you imagine tourists from all over hte world converging on disneyland and all the surrounding hotels and finding half the streets torn up to put in huge concrete sewers, traffic in one lane only and zillions of pedestrains breaking into the slow moving traffic to get to the hotels and Disneyland too. wow what a mess.

Hi Hatley there are superstitions in all country all religions, what is unlucky to one is lucky to other, personally i don't have faith on them, the number 13 is lucky for me, a cat crossing the road is lucky for me, a lizard falling on my body is lucky for me, i tell 'lucky' because they were harmless for me always.. Thank you so much for this discussion and sharing your experience.God bless you Professor. . Cheers God bless you. Welcome always.

hi professor my husband always said friday hte thirteenth was his lucky day. we had several black cats toms and they were so sweet and fun to have except when they would lie down at night in the darkest part of the hall which at times led to stepping on their tails. nothing like the yowl of a cat in the dark of night to give one a shock.Yesterday was just not one of my best days but I did manage to reset the router and modem myself.

Hatley, yesterday, you really did have an adventure! I must say, you handle the situation very well. Also, I am delighted that everything worked out for you! Therefore, I hope today, you are taking it easy because you earned it! To answer your question, I'm sort of superstitious because it all depends on how I am feeling that day. Now, I know that sounds silly, but that's the way it goes for me. It's been wonderful chatting with you, again. ?

hio snowqueen yes yesterday was an interesting upsetting but not boring for me. I think that the housekeeper Alex had the worst luck as he blew some fuses while running the floor dewaxter yesterday. so half the room had no lights at all, and it was spooky making my way to my room.I booted up my computer and the internet logo wa in the tool tray.so I thought oh good I will' not need to do a thing.but I could not load mylot so I had to' reset the router and the modem.I was shaky but it did work. I just had to do it once. now I have a new internet card on the mother board.. I love it when I can actually repair something on my computer and it actually does work. That was such a good feeling to be able to know how to reset my modem and router to ger vack on the net.

Hatley, last night we lost our electricity and it went out 11:00pm and didn't come back on until 6:00am, therefore I too has to walk in the dark and it was spooky because the light of the moon was shinning in my window. Thanks for responding back to me and I enjoyed our little chat. Congratulation for fixing your computer! Take care Snow

Hatley, Friday here is just over and today is a beautiful sunny Sunday. I had come across many Friday that fell on the 13th. I hope my everyday life goes on smoothly as usual. Only once, unfortunate incidents did happen to us on the so-called unlucky Friday years ago. That time my elder brother as well as my younger sister and I were having vocation in other state. We saw a black cat on the way while walking to a restaurant to have breakfast. Later on we went for shopping. My brother slipped when stepping on an unsteady iron drain cover before reaching the outlet. The had a bleeding wound on his right leg. I found the trail part of my car was damaged when we were going to get on the vehicle. And it's really irritating that the guy disappeared and never left any message on the front car screen. It's impossible to undergo everyday a smoothly day. And there might be certain glitches or undesirable things happen in whatever day. It's not only happening on the so-called unlucky Friday. If so it's solely a coincident I suppose. Thanks for the add Happy posting and have a nice day

i dont believe on friday the 13th, i think the movie industry just made that to create a reason to do a horror movie. its just a subliminal message so people will think that there is something bad happens on that day.

Wow that is so silly that hotels build their hotels without a 13th floor. I am sure it is not all hotels just some with very superstitious owners. I wouldnt have a problem sleeping on the 13th floor at all! I have a black cat as well. cyrus123 my parents anniversary is September 13th and my nieces birthday is September 12. If she had stayed in her mothers womb one more day she would have been born on her grandfather and grandmothers wedding anniversary.

hi shaggin oh yes I think superstitions are silly as good and bad happen all the time. for me the 13th was lucky as I met the man I wou ld marry six weeks later. The hotels are also built so there is no thirteenth"floor, I guess thats so superstitious people will not get upset over a thirteenth floor. I have had two wonderful black cats, toms that were so sweet and loving, I had to find good homes for them as we were moving into an apartment. worse deal we everr made as we sold our almost paid for home when the prices were still cheep.

Hi Hatley, I've never actually had a bad Friday the 13th ever so I really chalked that superstition up to being just superstition a long time ago. They do claim that numbers have a lot to do with peoples lives but I've not read up enough on that to even say. I will say that I do see a difference in the full moon season. They say that 4 days before and 4 days afterwards that the full moon affects everything and I have to say that I think there is maybe something to that. I have had customers that are normally very predictable and very nice come in to the store and either they purchase different or they are acting off. I have so many times not even known it is the full moon and thought that it has to be by the way people are acting and then I go out and look and sure enough...it is.

Yes, we nearly had a Friday the 13th didn't we? I had a nice visit from my granddaugter and her new son, Owen William. He was all laughey and cooing. What a sweetie pie he is. She is going to college in the evenings now and had brought us shoes. She has become a clothes-a-holic and brings us clothes from her shopping at the second hand stores. She and her new mother-in-law can sure find some great deals on name brand clothing.

hi celticeagle how lovely to see your great grandson wow. and your granddaughter too. I have heard others tell me they got some really great deals in the second hand stores. I know I sold some name brand dresses once when low on money and she paid me a great 'price. they had barely been worn as I gained weight and they no longer fit. the money went to pay a utility bill. that was a long time back.I have never been one for superstitions so Friday the 13th never bothers me at all.

Friday the 13th, or any day the 13th has never bothered me any. If anything I have always favored the days of the calender marked the 13th. 13 is a lucky number for me and has been for a long time. Perhaps because I graduated that terrible place called High School on the 13th (Thursday, not Friday)

im always a little leary about the number 13. but the thing is it mostly seems to be good luck to me. i mean 9 times out of ten when i post something on someones discussion i end up being number 13 then my oldest daughter was born on friday 13th and she was the easiest delivery, has had the best luck, and has asked me for the least help in her life so, guess that days not bad for me, nor the number even tho i think twice about it each time. lol.

I'm not supestitious so I never have believed in Friday the 13th. I think it's all hogwash! I remember the movie "Friday The 13th" and I've seen it. I've always liked horror movies, anyway, lol! It sounds like you did have a rough day yesterday but I'm glad you survived it. I'm also glad that you got reassessed as a bus rider. I think things like this can happen anytime no matter what day of the week it is or day of the month it is. I've been to Anaheim, as a matter of fact. I was 12 years old at the time and we went to Disneyland.

hi cyrus I am not superstitious either as we usually goof up and thus create our own prpblems. I have not been to Disneyland in years as the cost kept mounting, we used to go often when our kids were little and they got me on the mountain ride along with the rest of them. My' husband and son thought it the best ride they had ever been on, my little girl was not so sure and mom was sick to her tummy. I am not great on hair raising rides. a ferris wheel or merrygoaround I can handle the others no way. they teased me unmercifully but I know my limits. lol. I would like to visit Disnetland again one fine day.oh i survived it and wondered what Alex did to blow a fuse. anyway all was well that ended well.

We went to Disneyland in 1964. I don't know how much it cost to get in back then because daddy paid our way. I'm sure it's a lot higher now. Daddy was in the Kiwanis Club back then and they had a convention in L.A. That's the main reason why we were out there. We also went to Knott's Berry Farm while we were out there. We also went to Beverly Hills and Hollywood one day and we got to see where all the stars lived. This was something that was planned by the Kiwanis Club. After the convention was over, we went to spend a week with my uncle and his family. They lived in Napa, which I'm sure you know is up near San Francisco. This was my daddy's brother. In fact, we spent a whole month out west that summer.

Hi Hatley, Friday the 13th is a lucky day for me and so is the number 13 so I am not superstitious of either, I do realise though that a lot of people are but personally I think that also it can be a psychological thing as in if you think something is unlucky then it will be...hugs lolo

I kinda like Friday the 13th now. I had been trying to get on Social Security Disability for seven years... seven LOOOOOONG years. I was denied time after time. My last hearing was scheduled for Friday the 13th. I was a bit worried about it because of the date but it was either go to this hearing or have it rescheduled which could take up to a year. There was NO WAY I was going to wait another year! So, I went to that hearing on Friday the 13th. It took some time, since the judge wanted me to be re-evaluated by a psychologist, but I was FINALLY approved for disability!!!!! Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!!! So, Friday the 13th is actually a very lucky day for me.

Hi Hatley~ Sorry for your really bad day on the 12th! I have actually had some good "13th's" and since I have lousy days all throughout the year I never pay them any mind anyway! What difference does it make what the date on the calendar is? And I have the most sweetest "black cat" in the entire world. He is the sweetest cats I've ever had and I've had 5 total and he is the only all black on, the other was a Tuxedo Cat who was of course, black and white and looked like he was wearing a Tuxedo, hence the name! He wasn't so lovey dovey, but Star is! I actually expected my day to be worse then it was. I went to the Podiatrist to have a toenail removed, but he wouldn't do it! I was in so much pain when I wore shoes I wanted it off! I had it off twice before, but this doctor said it would grow back worse so he just file, picked, clipped and told me to come back in 6-8 weeks! I actually think I would have preferred the nail to be removed, but he was the doc! The last doc I went to was the most arrogant, nasty azzhole and apparently shouldn't have removed the nail either time! Glad your computer was ok at least! Hugs, Opal

I actually have come to be a huge fan of Friday the 13th in the past eight years of my life. You see, Kathryn was going to be induced on the 13th of December in 2002, but she decided that she wanted to come earlier than that. Paul was actually due on the 13th of October, 2006 and he was born on that day as well. Because of this weird thing with Friday the 13th and my children, I've come to believe that Friday the 13th was my lucky day instead of a bad day for me.

hi ybong oh yes thats so true and also bad and good things happen often in groups of three. so once a second upseting thing has happen I always say okay one more and I will be okay.lol also happens with good things like getting a letter from a friend whom you had not seen in a long time, then a phone call, then the friend is on your doorstep lol things often happen in threes.
