do you consider working online as a day job?

Working online have many advantages but I haven't heard of someone who takes it seriously, like logging on for at least 8 hrs (like a normal day job). Other people don't really recognize working online as a 'real job" since it doesn't have other benefits like insurance and the chance to work in a real workplace. What is your opinion?

I would love to work online as my day job. I actually tried to apply for an online day job before but I didn't get to pursue it. I guess the good point of it is - you're in the comfort of your own home. You don't have to take a ride to work or endure traffic or bother being bullied by a colleague at work. You have the opportunity to take a break whenever, if you have an online job that only requires you to perform tasks like writing, doing a review, etc. Yes you may have a problem with the insurance and health benefits but you can actually apply for that yourself when you're already earning. I would like to find a real job online. But for now I need to find a care job so I can finish my studies. Then I can try finding a job online.

I would love to work online fulltime but it is impossible because the amount I would be earning would not be worth hours and hours of sitting in front of a computer and I would not be making enough to contribute to our household. The work I do now is only part time and the money I earn is great pocket money and that’s about it! I wish it was more but I am lucky to earn while having fun so I will not complain!

I work online during the day. I have a lot of office mates and although the insurance benefit isn't as big as other real time jobs, i am still fine with it. Just as long as i get to go online here and with my facebook account..that is if the boss is not around.

This is the job that I'm looking since I have an internet access. Working online I think is more convenient for me since I'm a mom and I'm pissed off with commuting especially here in our country the traffic is unbearable. And one more reason why I like to work online is because it will give me more time with my family. I hope anybody out there recommends a site where it is legal and not a scam.

I might spend more time than I should on line, but I do not earn enough doing so to ever consider it a 'day job'. It would be an interesting experiment to see if I could earn enough to justify calling it that!

You right, my friend. Many people did not know that they may too can earn online. If you said making money online. Those people mocking at us who earn money online and thinking were joking or very frustrating enough why we say those things. But let those people thinking bad about online earnings. But for me my earnings online is good enough as those having a regular jobs. It is true that there is no other benefits than earnings. But it's up to you to get an insurance since you have money to pay those insurance.

At this point, no. But, I am working towards making it a fully time job. That is my goal. I don't think that things like insurance and vacation pay should be what defines a full time job. But, also I don't think that just because you log on 8 hrs or more a day that it should be considered a full time job. For me, when I'm making enough money to equal minimum wage (or more) I will consider it a full time job. I have quite a ways to go before I get there.

I want to get it to that point, but my earnings right now can't really be called a job, but alot of mylotters have given good advice on how to do better, and I can actually see an uphill slow climb to where that can happen!

Hello, jeanneyvonne I think that being 8 hours at work, doesn't necessary mean people are taking it seriously. Creative people tend to develop new ways for using less time to complete tasks. People shouldn't look non-formal jobs as not normal. Reality comes from real...and if an online job is reality for us, that can't even be a discussion, right? Have you ever asked yourself what a job is? A job is nothing else but a way of survival. The important thing is to choose a job that can make you happy as well, that is when your talents show. People suffer looking for safetyness, when this is far from existing...you do your best - and I am not saying you shouldn't - to prevent horrible things from happening to you and to your family, but you are never a 100% sure... It is not a pessimist view, ok? It is just like things happen...and you should choose your path and take care of practical matters having a formal or informal job. Best wishes :)

I think people should definitely take online job very serious.. The reason why a lot of people don't succeed in online jobs is because they think that they need not work for long hours.. There is no boss around and no one is there to question.. They also think that online job is something that should be really easy.. In my opinion, one must spend 6-8 hours for an online job and even more if they like to.. Success in online business depends on patience and dedication.. If that is done correctly, an experienced person should be able to earn more in online job than he would actually earn in a regular job. Whether a job is online or offline, the number of productive hours spent per day definitely counts..

Actually, many peoples work online seriously. Even they make it as the premiere job. For me, online job is just for making investment. I will invest some money I earn from online job to the real life. I reject to work as an employee. That's wasting time and tiring. If online job is far better and profitable, why not. I must try this whatever the consequences.

There is quite a number of people that make a permanent income online, with no other job. Quite a few are making millions per year online. But they don't play around on blogs like this. I have nothing against this blog, but it is not for the professional internet marketer. The owners of this blog is probably making a pretty penny out of this blog.

Yes, as a matter of fact, my hours online are quite numerable. The work online does strain my eyes, but the benefit of making money streams is a reward. I have adapted to my progress online, and think about the 8 hours as a joke. My neighbors job involves standing in one place for 16 hours, staring at lots of controls for any repairs that may come all of a sudden. I find myself luck to avoid that much of a stress and lead such a calm and prosperous lifestyle. There isn't one think I hate about working online, even if it felt like a day job.

Actually there are a lot of folks whose online job(s) are their primary source of income, in particular those in web marketing. And they've done very well in it, earning tens/hundreds of thousands, some even millions. They don't even have to be logged on for a full 8 hours/day, their systems allows for extended absences from the computer. Their net incomes more than make up for the lack of insurance and other benefits.

There are so many people working online and earning fortune, am also working on that and want to make it my full time job where all my income will be coming from. Internet offers some of the best and great opportunities that can really help many people. There people that are just marketing their services and products online and this is their full time job. It's even fun to work online once you have a formula of making your goals come true and realizing your achievement and on the other hand it's need discipline to work online as you will have no supervisor to be looking after you and here you will be your own boss, how do you like to be your own boss. It is a virtual working place where you do not get to meet people physically but you will be interacting with the virtually.

There is a growing population in the online workforce, and quite a number of them already do it full time. They are usually called Virtual Assistants. The online job site that I know of is ODesk. There are a lot of members and a lot of jobs available. It's a new way of treating this as a 'regular day job'.

Oh well If I'd get paid as much as day job for a online job, I'd love to work online from home... But I really doubt thats possible. So I think online jobs are good only for part time and we cant really depend on them for our regular income. But i do post here when I get free time.. A few bucks made like this are not bad!

for me, it depends. if they will pay me well, like a couple of hundred or more dollars per day or pay week, why not? if it can sustain my daily living expenses more than my 8 to 5 job, why not consider it your bread and butter? but if not, hell NO.
