I'm not sure what's your pc's problem maybe it's the junk slows your system down or it's about the virus.I think you should clean your system with some tune up software.Plus, you could restore the system if you have backup.Good luck.

yeah, i agree with this one. there are a lot of factors affecting slowing down of your system, usually manifested with slowing down during start up or shutting down. The above mentioned reasons are the usual ones. as breathofja said, try backing up your files, or do a system check of viruses.

Thanks for supporting my opinion^_^ If it's not the hardware's problem then the restore or reinstall will resolve mainly problems.

check your msconfig file, what programs running in background when you start yr computer. there must be a program which is taking too much time to close.

You mentioned in one of your comments that the slow shutdown started after you'd recently reformatted the harddisk, and presumably reinstalled Windows. If you're saying that the system is a clean install, did you install motherboard drivers for your specific motherboard? The standard default drivers do not allow components to operate at optimal performance. Specifically, the bare minimum is the chipset driver. Also, if the correct driver for other peripherals are not loaded, they can cause the system to run with lower performance.

It might be a process which could be affected by a virus. May be one of the files of that program could be deleted. Due to one of these reasons, your computer may take time to close that process, consequentiality it is resulting a slow shut down. One of the simplest solutions is to format your pc. Reinstall the operating system. This is one of the best solutions and works for whatever major problem it may be.

I agree with above responses that there are many factors which are contributing to this and main factor could be your antivirus, check your antivirus, whether it is up to date or not, if not then update it or if you dont have anti virus then install any good anti virus soft ware, beside this, there are different other program running behind so check all those program too and if you require then run them other wise un-check them msconfig. Have a nice day...:)
