I Cannot Believe How Brilliant Christopher Eccleston Is!

How I love this man. I've seen him in lots of dramas (you may remember him in Heroes and Dr Who) but when he has a decent script he just excels himself! Take last night for example. A new series has started called "Accused" (not to be confused with the film with a similar title) and it's written by none other than Jimmy McGovern. He is one of our finest writers, mainly of "real life" situations. Christopher Eccleston played a part that suited him down to the ground, namely of a guy spiralling out of control through debt and taking more and more desperate measures to try to get out of the hole he was in. Each episode deals with a different character and each character ends up "in the dock" so to speak, really through no fault of their own..well, sort of. If the rest of the series is anything to go by I'm gonna be hooked. So, do you adore Christopher Eccleston and Jimmy McGovern as much as I do? Remember "The Lakes" that Jimmy wrote years ago, the one that put John Simm on the map? Loved that too! http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-interviews/2010/11/15/accused-star-christopher-eccleston-accuses-x-factor-bosses-of-having-contempt-for-tv-viewers-86908-22718896/ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/8130004/Jimmy-McGovern-returns-with-a-courtroom-drama-to-remember.html How I wish darling Christopher was still Dr Who but at least he didn't get type-cast which meant he could concentrate on roles like the one I described..so every cloud has a silver lining my friends!

Hmmm.... interesting idea for a show. Too bad I'm on this side of the pond. Maybe CBC might pick it up, but I'm not holding my breath. Interesting interview with the Record, too. I agree with what he has to say about TV shows.

You can tell he's an extremely intelligent guy (an aphrodisiac as far as I'm concerned) and I can't wait to see what he's going to appear in next! I don't suppose you can buy BBC DVDs in Canada can you as I know they sell them worldwide? Just look for anything with Christopher Eccleston in it and you won't be disappointed!!

I didn't watch the new series because I get disappointed by TV dramas but will agree over Ecclestone's brilliance. Some of his earlier movies such as "Shallow Grave" and "Let Him Have It" are great thanks to Eccleston delivering scene after scene of intelligent character portrayal. Whilst I never got into him as Dr. Who I wish he would make a few more movies.

"Shallow Grave" wow, I'd forgotten about that rather ace film, thanks for reminding me about it and how brilliant Eccleston was in that too.
