I am well sorted for christmas now and i am really pleased. We ensure that we have a stocking filled to the brim for the children every year, all six of our children. There are all manners of things that we put in them. Some of the things that we put in them are toys, silly socks, magazines etc.It costs loads of money to fill them each year.Well this year i am also doing a stocking for my husband. He will get things like socks in his and boxer shorts, not forgetting smellies and sweets.Do you do stockings every year.

I remember stockings from my childhood. My mom always came up with the coolest sweets and novelty items. Dont' know where she found them. We didn't think about it this year. Just glad to not have to ask for help to even have a gift or two for the kids. Now that may even be smashed if the guy at K-mart doesn't work with us. Read my topic "Number 2 in a series" to explain.

Too cute! You have six kids, amazing I did not know that. What a great mommy to be so prepared. Yes we do stockings as well and I will be copying you if you do not mind as money is really tight and I figure if I get necessities it would be much more appreciated than things they truly do not need.

haha =D Too bad we dun celebrate christmas over here and thus we wont have anything in those smelly socks of ours.. lol =D INstead of candies, presents and all, we might find some ants or creepy crawlies hiding inside the socks due to the cold weather now.. lol =D I do like those christmas socks, because they look unique to me.. haha

its fun to celebrate christmas with a lot of kids around the house. i only have one child but we celebrate christmas at my mothers house were there are lots of kids, my nephew and nieces. but this christmas is going to be difficult for me for i need to work over seas for 3 months and i will be leaving on the 26 of this month. sad but work is still work. we put decorations already at home last sunday and it made me felt more sad.

In my country we don't do stokings but we have a tradition to place the gifts under the Christmas tree. Of course adults say to the little kids that the gifts were dropped there by Santa. I remember the last time when I tried to play this with my daughter. We were visiting her aunt who lives abroad and they have a fireplace in their home. I placed the package in the fire place because we say that Santa enters the home from the chimney. But it turned out that the kid had seen the gift in my luggage...

Well, seems that your kids are really lucky to get full stockings every year. We do not celebrate christmas with presents in our family. Christmas is just another holiday for us, really to relax and unwind with just eat and sleep. preparations are out. lol.

We set aside the day after Thanksgiving to do this. We use stockings too. So by this weekend, we will be done as well! I don't find that it takes loads of cash to accomplish full stockings, maybe a bit of creative shopping for me.

Thats nice that you could do that for your children, and hubby. I'm sure they will enjoy them. Do you also give gifts to them, like ones that you put under your tree? I don't do stockings, for some reason, I never have and we never did have them growing up either. It sounds fun tho.

We do stockings every year for the children, but we don't fill stockings for myself and my husband. That said, in the children's stockings this year I will fill them with Littlest Pet Shop figures for my daughter and Hot Wheels for my son. Some candy, crayons and coloring books, that kind of thing. For my daughter, I also tend to put some makeup in there as well because of the fact that she likes playing with makeup.

I used to make a stocking for my ex every year. I would put little things in it like razors and aspirins etc. I don't have any children so his was the only one. I haven't gotten one since I was a child. I liked to make the stockings, but I could never find a place to hang it up, so I used to just lean it against the wall.

I remembered doing it once when my kids said they want to put a socks outside our window so that santa will put something inside their socks. They also asked me regarding that matter if it is true or not, i just said nothing and urge them to try... But then i forgot about that after a days... and they saw that nothing happens to their socks and it was still empty.. so sad... Wish i could go back to those days to make my kids happy and a smile on their lips when i could help them make it true once....I will try again... not too late huh!

NO. We are not into christmas over there. No matter how we try to do it, the actual christmas feel is missing because we do not have snow here. Without snow, the mood is somehow different, even though we can have exactly the same things in the house. SO, a christmas celebration is done with simple meal and spending some time with my bf.

Yet to start the stockings every year, lets start with christmas. We are also planning to put toys, silly socks, magazines, etc. Even though it costs loads of money to fill each year, but still we do not have to worry for an year after that. Its good to keep stockings for the complete year.

We do usually hang stockings and fill them each year. It seems that ours usually have small treats in them, but my daughters love the surprises that they find in them each year. I am sure that somehow I will do them this year, if I have to fill them with homemade treats. I will be looking for ideas today online of small things that I might be able to make without a lot of cost.

I still do stockings, even though my children are 1800 miles away. They always go through their stockings first before their presents because sometimes the best stuff is in the stockings! I have the stockings they grew up with that I hang on my fireplace each year and I send them cheap $1 stockings that I buy at the dollar store and don't care if I get back. One year they were visiting at Christmas and it was nice to use the traditional stockings and see them filled, hanging at the fireplace!

First of all, sorry for responding on this although I myself am not a Christian, I can't help but to ask you why does this tradition exist? Does it refer to any historical/religious significance which occurred in the past? thanks in advance ^^
