Claiming Insurance

Australia

Our home was burglarized last month when we were away. We lost a lot of stuffs and cash lodged the claim weeks ago but the insurance company disapproved it. Until we complete the forms they sent and produce evidences, receipts, photos, witnesses etc., there will be no hope for us to claim what we have lost. So as a reminder to all so that you don't have to go through the hassles that we are going through, here are some tips: ** Always keep your receipts, photos of jewelries and other precious stuffs you have. ** Copy serial numbers of electronic goods. ** Print out transactions you have online (e.g. Ebay, as they only keep records of transactions for sixty days. If you have similar experience, perhaps you can add some more tips.

I'm sorry that you're having such a hard time with your insurance company. In addition to keeping records and photographs of our valuables we also have an engraver and have engraved the last four digits of my husband's social security number on all of our electronic equipment. This makes it easier for us to prove that something belongs to us if law enforcement is able to locate it.

it is sad to know that many do experience difficulty in claiming insurance. I actually do work in an insurance company but it more like pro-people kind..it is called as micro-insurance since it is cheaper and can claim faster. and we are offering life insurance products. with the company you are claiming it is usually like that with commercial insurance, so many hassle and there really must be evidence / proof. hope u can settle things already :)
