hello fellas! i just heard that the younger sibling of my bf is home educated and i asked him why. i told him it would be better if she wasnt home educated because she is normal. i mean no disability or the like. also, she has free time to do go to school, but my bf said there was no really good school near to her place so she preferred being home educated. do you think it is better than going to school? what huge flaw/s do you think is/are there in home education?

I think home schooling can be good and keep people focused but I think people won't experience interaction with others. I think it is safer to protect kids from bullying. But they wont experience socializing with others too.

yeah, that is my point when i talked to him. i worry that she might not be able to keep up with the rest once she gets into a big school. but he assures me the girl will. i hope so. =)

the major flaw in home schooling will be the lack of exposure. When we go to school we meet many new people, make friends, learn about team spirit, competition. All this cannot be achieved by home schooling. I think its a lot to miss those fun school days!

a lot of parents home school their kids because they don't want them to be exposed to the horrible things that can happen in the public school system.

i think the biggest complaint about home schoolers is "lack of socialization", but i don't see this as a major flaw. i hear a lot of complaints about the rudeness and vulgarity of public schoolers. not to mention the total lack of drive for academic success.
