Just when we thought it was getting better, WHAM!! Bad news.

I guess we should always be prepared for the worst, but it's never easy to do so. Try to save for a rainy day? How when you're laid off work and barely getting by as it is? My husband had been laid off his job for almost a month, when the boss had said 2 weeks at the most. So when he goes back to work today, he's told that he's being cut from the payroll and will get $2.25/hr less than what he's making, which is still less than minimum wage in cash. That was a blow to us, we were already having more financial trouble as it is, and thought we were climbing out of it with me getting my license back. But no, that's not to be. Despite having my license back, I certainly can't go apply for a driving job anywhere as I'm still in level one until my road test next month. I'm not allowed to drive alone, and can't drive between midnight and 5am. An extreme challenge to say the least, and I'm at wits end with this. Cash minimum wage is minimum wage minus mandatory deductions, and his boss is offering him $0.71 lower than he should be getting. It's not fair. Not only is it not fair, I found out that it's illegal as well. Doesn't help his employer, especially if he decides to file a complaint about this. It's bad enough that she wants to pay him $8/hr, but his hours have been cut so he's not working a 40 hour week, but rather a 32 hour week. Barely enough to get by, by any standards. Now we're trying desperately to find the money to pay the rent so we're not thrown out so close to winter, it gets really cold up here, and I'd rather not be living in a vehicle with pets, but I certainly wont give up my pets. I looked at the temp jobs, nothing new posted in the last 48 hours, and that's extremely sad. He applied last week to a meat packing plant, but hasn't heard back from them yet. If he got that job, he'd suffer through it no matter how difficult or nasty it is, it would pay far better than minimum wage, probably $12-$14/hr. It's a union shop, so there usually is some job security there. But then again, people wont stop eating meat, so no one there would be out of a job. In fact, I would do a job like this if I could physically handle it, but I know I can't, so I didn't apply for it myself. I'm just waiting for things to get better, and wondering what our landlord will say if we ask him to wait a week before cashing the rent check. I know he wont like that, but hopefully he'll understand it. I'm praying, but right now, that's all I can do.

I'm doing the best I can with online work, but it's not enough to sustain us. It's too bad that thee isn't any other work I can do online, and too bad that he's not computer literate, otherwise, he could help with this. But he knows nothing about computers, so he could never help.

praying may be the least you can do, but its the most you can do. times are sure tough and i hope things get better for you. as for your hubbys boss, i would complain to the government. if its illegal then they have a right to know.

It turns out that she didn't go through with all of this which was a blessing in disguise.

I hope things get better for you soon! I don't know what things you do online, but have you thought about selling things on Craigslist or eBay? There are a lot of things that will make a little money, both online and off.
