Do you like the smell of rain?

Hi natnickeep! I feel the same way as you do, gosh, although I am not a rain-person, every so often, there would be memories that would wind up in my mind with the smell of after rain, you know like when we were kids, we were oblivious with the world around us and we just play, get wet in the rain, have fun, I love these memories so much. In every scent that I smell, there is really a vague, or sometimes certain memory that will pop up on your mind. I like the discussion you have made, cheers!

I like the smell of rain because it brings a fresh scent, sort of like air freshener to the air. My favorite scent is vanilla and I love it for literally anything.

I'm not really a fan of the smell of rain because of the fact that I don't really like rain. However, there are some smells that do bring back a lot of memories for me. The most dominant smell that I remember from my childhood is the smell of chlorine because I spent the vast majority of my childhood in a swimming pool as a part of a swim team. I won't really say that the smell is a pleasant smell, but it is a smell that evokes a lot of memories.

Greetings natnickeep. Yes, but mostly on warm days. It brings back pleasant memories of when I was a child. Not sure what all those memories were about, but it registers a positive note in my mind.

I love the smell of rain from childhood and i remember those days when i was in school i used take off saying some silly reasons and enjoy the rain.Many people like to get wet in it but i dont like getting wet but just enjoy it by eating icecreams and watching the rain pouring through the window.That smell of fresh mud i love it.

I always love the smell of rain ( I call it smell of the Earth soil..), for me It's very relaxing and very refreshing and it does brings up good memories of a childhood.. I wish our grandchildren still can smell it in the future..

i cant smell that well but i really dont like the smell of rain, but my hubby loves the smell.

Yes, I love the smell as it reminds me of freshness and relaxing feeling after the rain. When I was a child, I use to ran and play in the rain with the rest of my friends. Really comforting and relaxing.

I actually do enjoy the smell of rain. It has a very enjoyable smell. I've always enjoyed the rain.

Do you mean smell of soil?Yes i love it absolutely.I wish there was a perfume of this smell .I would have wear it all the time.

I will be honest with you. The smell of rain is something that I am completely indifferent to. The smell is what it is. When there are certain elements in the air, it might be slightly pleasant or slightly rancid a times. There are a lot of times where the smell can vary. Still I do not really bother myself with the smell of the rain all things considered. It is just something that just happens in life. In general, I see too much of rain. There are times where I live where it can rain on and off for a week at a time. Sometimes a bit more depending on the circumstances. I tend to get rather sick of the rain, when it continues to do so time and time again. Therefore the smell my be something that I dread, as long with everything else with rain. There are a lot of times where I just cringe when I see the rain coming down. It is a sense of, “here we go again.”

I like the smell of rain very much. Whenever i enjoy the smell of rain, it leads me to my childhood days - The time i spend with my childhood friends - the days we played in heavy rain. That was the happiest time in my life. Whenever the smell of rain come into my nose, i wish to be a child again.But.......

Just love it, it does bring back memories - also love the smell it seems to make everything around fresh and clean again, especially in the cities. Gone is the smell of traffic, pity it doesnt stay this way too long. Sitting outside on the porch during a display of thunder and lightening makes you think about the way nature does what it wants and we are mere onlookers, unable to do anything about it.

Yeah. And its nice to get wet with rain like those kids in the streets that play while raining.

yes especially during the fall when everything is mellow, in my state we have alot of sassafrass, and it just smells so good after a light rain. Also I like seeing quail and their babies too...

I don't particularly hate it but I dread it when it is just a passing rain and after the downpour, the smell of the heat from the ground evaporates.

I just like the smell of rain in warm season. I enjoy fresh air and grass. And I find that many people love summer when they are children,they can play with water all the time. But if the rain in cold days,I cant bear that cool feeling.

hi - I definitely like the smell of rain. I was at the beach the previous weekend and saw the brewing of a heavy downpour coming in from the sea. The ships at sea suddenly cannot be seen due to the heavy downpour although it was still dry on land. I was to feel the heavy downpour some 20 minutes later. I like the sudden whiff of pages from an old book. It just conjures up images of school days and me lolling around enjoying a good book.

I actually love rain and it's weird I can smell when it is about to rain. I love the smell of rain but not when it is super hot and it's raining and you can spell the tar and ground of the road though. Other than that, I love the cold rain and the weather, makes me want to cuddle up and lay in bed :)

I guess you don't have to smell the rain just to bring up good memories. Some associated rain to sadness, some for happy moments and some for loving someone.
