Black Friday vs. Cyber Monday

I know a lot of people have been talking about Black Friday, which is the day after Thanksgiving in the U.S.. It's when all the stores slash their prices. Some stores open at 4am, and people are actually waiting in line when the doors open. I have never gotten out on a Black Friday to catch any deals. I just don't want to get in that huge crowd (or the cold). I prefer Cyber Monday. Which is the Monday following Thanksgiving. Online retailers cut their prices, and the consumers benefit. I would much rather sit at my computer and find deals for Christmas presents and stuff like that. I'm interested in what you do (if you do anything) about Black Friday and Cyber Monday. And also other countries, are their days after your holidays where big sales go on? The day after Christmas is big for sales here too.

Hi Amber~ Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! I wasn't planning on going out to any stores, but I ended up going to my "sort of sons" Staples Store, that he is a Manager at and he bought me a new Hewlett Packard Computer for Christmas! It was an incredible buy (with his employee discount). Since he is my "computer guy" I have no idea about any of it except that it is supposed to be more than twice as fast with 3 times the memory. And while I was there I got some other office supplies too. I can't shop on Cyber Monday because I just bought a new chair that folds out to a mat for sleeping and I have no money left on my card! It's probably for the best! I now have to start paying that off. I did get a sale price on it already.

I hate crowds, so I don't do Black Friday, and I don't care for cyber Monday either - in fact, I've pretty much taken care of Christmas already

hi AmbiePam I sure did not venture out to the stores today as crowds really are hard one me. I have a bad leg in a brace and use a quad 'cane so lots of walking and dodging p eople before you even find what you are looking for becomes too tiring. I love to shop online and Monday I will do some checking.I can often find good deals and lower shipping costs too.

I have never gone out in any of the two. We dont usually have that here in my country though there is a thanksgiving sale right now in a mall here at my area. If ever we'll have that here, I think it'll be fun and most probably I'll go and check things up. I love SALE! My money will be worth it.

Normally I was big on black Friday, but being that I am out of town it was not possible. However I will be checking out cyber Monday, as perhaps the better deals will be found this way. I think it will be a bigger hit as people like us are always searching the net for a deal.

Herro AmbiePam I went on ONE black Friday when my sister was alive and lived here. NEVER AGAIN. I have neuropathy on my left side. Can you imagine me trying to get an item with everyone shoving me around and me falling. No thankx. I will look at Cyber Monday. I have a couple of things I want to look at, cyber Monday is mine. I went out this morning for my first ever "Black Friday" shopping trip, I can tell you it is also my last one. These stupid people out there do not care a bit for any other person. I am handicapped and use a cane, People were cussing me because I could not move out of their way fast enough to suit them. I will do all my shopping using BC from now on.

I've done the Black Friday thing, but, I used to do it to go meet family that I hadn't seen in a long time. Of course I was a teen then so shopping didn't really matter to me. I like Cyber Monday better because unlike Black Friday, Cyber Monday lasts for a whole week and not just one day. I think more people would rather shop on line than be in line.

Since I have a lot of bills and debts that I have to pay is important for me to stay away from good sales and concentrate on my debts. The best Christmas gift that I can give people I love is to show them my unconditional love without getting myself more into debt. This year I will send Christmas cards to my family and friends in Florida ,and I will bake a cake for my neighbors and I will give my two son's gift cards ,so they can buy whatever they want. I will have a very simple Christmas this year.

I think that is awesome. Plus, you are setting a good example for your kids, and that is a gift even if they don't know it.

I don't usually go out on Black Friday...but this year I went later because I had to...I went to pick up my granddaughter and needed to buy something at the JoAnn's there as ours has closed. I sure miss it! Anyway..I have ended up buying most of my Christmas gifts online this year. We don't have a bath and body works and that is what my granddaughter in Germany wanted so I had to order that...then I got the cutting system from Creative Memories for my DIL....so many other gifts...I think the post office might be wondering what's going on..and the UPS guy stops here on a regular basis! LOL I'll be watching though tomorrow to see if there are any other sales.

I did go out and get a few items yesterday; but what I did not do is get up or stay up all hours of the morning to go shopping. I got a few items for my granddaughters and my daughters. I have been trying to get little things for them over the last several months. They end up being more like care packages than large gifts.

I'm sure I went out on Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the past to do some Christmas Shopping. I don't shop for Christmas much any more since I'm living on such a small income. I don't go shopping on these days any more unless it's for some little something I need or maybe to do some grocery shopping.

I went shopping on Black Friday once, and never again. If I don't have to, I don't go anywhere that day. I like to sleep in the day after Thanksgiving. Although some of the deals are good, they are not good enough to lose sleep. Not to mention I don't like crowds and I am handicapped and can't stand in long lines. I didn't know about Cyber Monday. That sounds much better to me. I already have most of my shopping done though, but maybe next year.
