Why drive so fast?

speed drive and die - drive fast to die

Friends I wonder why people drive so fast, though they see banners telling, ‘the second you save by speeding, may be your last’, ‘here in this spot 258 persons were killed last month, you may be 259th, drive slow’, or like the one you can see in the photo below. Are you a fast driver, at what speed you drive in the highways and inside city? Did you face any accident ever?Professor

Well, I used to drive fast because there were places where I could and there was no one there to stop me. I drove 110 miles per hour (mph) in Montana once, and there were no police around because there was no speed limit so I could get away with it on the highways. Of course I was careful and knew what towns to slow down in. I loved the rush and the freedom I felt when I was driving that fast. It was so amazing.

"The rush and the Freedom" The feeling of intense joy as you slowly ease the pedal to the floor, and then get sucked into the back of your seat as the landscape rushes by, until, you start to cruise along at a comfortable 200km/h which is like 120mph, because your car can't go any faster...then BAM you hit a school bus full of children because you don't have time to stop, don't have time to regret it either. Or maybe you got lucky and had to feel the insufferable reverse high of deceleration from 200km/h back down to what ever snail pace you were at before because you realize you are coming closer to a high traffic area. The thing is, none of us are ever really sure, until we are in those critical moments. I strongly encourage everyone who speeds to watch Will Smiths' Seven Pounds, because anything less then what he did for those people is just inexcusable if you are going to do something as dangerous as driving that fast on public highways. Sincerely and With Appreciation.

Dude, my car doesn't go any faster than 120mph, so no, I wouldn't drive that fast. Anyway, I did this in my younger years, I don't anymore, but unless you have done it, I wouldn't expect you to know what it's like. I knew when to slow down. I wasn't going to kill anyone. Also, many of the places in that area where people-free zones back then. Now, that there are more people of there, I wouldn't do that, but back then, anything was possible. I don't know if you have ever been to Montana, but there aren't that many people up there, at least back then there wasn't.

Good day professor2010, I don't know why people drive so fast either. Today it is -32C and people are driving like it is summer. There were cars in ditches all down the highway today when I drove to work. The speed limit is 110 KM and I was driving 90 because it was very slippery and people were passing me at high speeds I'm sure of 120 and 130. I saw 2 vehicles in the ditch that had passed me a little earlier. So speeding didn't get them anywhere quicker than me. Or people who pass in and out of traffic and then you come to a red light and they are sitting there one or two cars infront of me. They sure got far ahead of me, did they! I don't get it any more than you do. Cheers and happy mylotting my friend , chris

I wouldn't say that I am a fast driver, but I am not a slow driver either. Where traffic conditions allow it, I will go up to the speed limit for that particular road, but no faster. I don't see the point in risking getting a speeding ticket and haven't had one since my "more foolish" youth There is a law in the UK where a driver can get a ticket for driving too slow on faster roads too, although it doesn't happen very often. When road conditions are busy, I have seen so many drivers speed past me at speeds much faster than the limit. Then later, I have rolled up to the traffic signal and there are those speeding drivers waiting at the traffic signals. They have got no further, risked getting a ticket and penalty points on their licence all for nothning. It is so crazy, these days the way many people seem to rush around in their cars getting all stressed about getting to their destination. They probably live their life like that too, never really looking at what is so in life, always looking at what is going to be and of course that isn't so yet, therefore an illusion. _Derek

i don't drive. but yes i really hate the fast driver. it can be dangerous not only for the rider itself, but also to someone else. i never got accident, but i had seen an accident. and that made me feel to not drive.

I also would advise people strap their seat belt all the time, and do not text or talk while drive. It is extremely dangerous the moment you took your eyes off the road. You have no idea how critical that 3 seconds your eyes off the road. So, think about other people's safety too.

I generally drive around the speed limit. My problem is not so much that people drive fast, but they drive aggressively and recklessly. I've never had an accident other than a couple of little bumps in the parking lot and I wasn't driving very fast at all then.

You ask "Why drive so fast?" I ask..."Why have cars that go so fast and have so much horsepower?" It's ridiculous!. It's totally unnecessary unless you wish to go very fast and risk losing control of your vehicle and killing someone.

I think there are a few reasons why people drive fast. They are late and need to get to work on time. People(some)just like to drive fast no matter what! Then there are the people who are in a hurry! So many people don't think when they drive and act like they own the road! It also seems everything a person learns while learning to drive,it thrown out the widow once they get their drivers license! With teenagers, alot of them, they like to drive fast just for the heck of it and alot of times they lose control and get into accidents! Put this all together people are crazy and just don't care!

There was a time in my life that I was a fast driver, but that was when I was young and stupid. What I mean is that it was before I was a mother, being a mother has slowed down a lot of things in my life. I've been involved in two automobile accidents in my life, one of them was my fault not too long after I got my driver's license when I hit a parked car. The other, however, was not my fault as I was rear-ended at a stop light with my daughter and my ex-friend's son in the car.

I drive very carefully but some times because of others stupidity people get caught into bad situation. This happend to me 2 weeks back, I fell down before traffic signal because of oil and water on the road. Me and my wife got injured, not severe but still painfull. I suggest everyone to drive slow, everything else can wait. if there is any urgent situaion and you want to reach fast, just think that driving fast might add another urgency. Drive safe. Thank You for sharing.

Those who drive fast mainly comes under two categories, youth between 18-27 and lorry and truck drivers. As youth they feel their speed shows their dynamism and go very fast, finally end up breaking legs or losing lives in accidents. They need to be counseled in their college and universities about speed and traffic safety. Next comes Lorry, truck driver they are always in hurry to reach their destination. Most of the highway accidents are because of them. They have to be counseled too. A family man who is married will always kep his speed in limits because of his responsibilites towards his family. Thank you Calpro

i don't drive so i don't have to worry so much about this... :-) but i always remind my hubby not to drive so fast for our safety as sometimes he can lose control and speed... fortunately here, we have speed limit everywhere and we have to adhere to it... otherwise, we can get caught with the camera and get demerit points and heavy fines... take care and have a nice day...

I don't drive. My husband is a very good driver. He is always careful. Actually here in Germany it is a must. There are cameras in every spots. The cameras photograph automatically when the cars take over speed. And the fine bill comes home within one week. here everything is money. We should pay for every of our faults. so people are careful. But young people are not careful. they lost their golden life in the young age by car accidents.
