So, I'm watching StarShip Troopers right now on Star movies...and got to thinking, why are they killing off the insects that was there in the planet first? Is our specie really more important than any other species?

It shows in the beginning of the movie, through a news report, that those insect aliens had started throwing giant meteors directly at earth, and had no possible means of communication, so, the humans had no choice, but to go out there, and kill them darn insects! It furthers it more, later on, when the main character's parent's home and city gets struck by one of those meteors. What would you do in that situation?

Its not like that, maybe people are afraid of the bugs because they have the capability to strike back on our planet. And I think the bugs throw the first stone.

oh i do love this movie! I always thought the insects were the ones to start the war? in the description it reads: "When earth is attacked by alien insects intent on eradicating all human life, Johnny's home and family are demolished. Determined to fight back, Johnny and the Mobile infantry travel to the planet Klendathu to battle the warrior bugs in order to save the human race." Soooooooooo i am assuming that the big explosion where Johnny's parents are living, was the attack from the alien bugs...or something like that, and killed thousands... ^_^ I hope that helps a little anyways

It's a movie. The killing of the insects (and the humans) are for our entertainment. Nothing less, nothing more. Now our treatment of the original inhabitants of North America did happen. There the Europeans did feel they had the right, and they exercised that power they had, to take, to imprison, to kill. All for natural resources. Some things just never change. Until the power goes to those more deserving. Now only if the people would vote for those more deserving ...

Aye, I feel you...movies are just movies...but the injustice done by powerful people to people weaker than them is a crime...and the sad thing is, this is still happening all over the world!

In the thoughts of those men there in that moment yes we are. Have you read any history books? We have always thought we were the most important people in the world. That would make our species all important. And kill the insects first because if not they die. Who or what ever gets in the way of their mission.
