I have used both windows xp and curently using windows 7. Windows xp is also stable and the requirement of installing windows xp to your computer is not as demanding as windows 7. For dual core computers you can go for windows 7 with high hard disc capacity and processor speed is also a defining factor

After the crappy Vista, I do not wish to screw my system up by installing Windows 7. But heard from people that it is actually not that bad. But I still prefer to stick to my trusted win xp. As for you friend, don't let him force you into something that you do not wish to.

Hi kumar. You could use a virtual machine on you windows 7 system, and install the windows xp on top of it. If your computer or laptop is decent you'll almost won't notice the diference. You can also install both windows versions in dual boot on your machine. Bye.

I have dual-booted Linux Ubuntu 10.04 and Windows 7 on my PC. I usually use my Linux for surfing the net because it's virus-proof. I use my Windows 7 for things such as gaming, doing schoolwork etc. If Linux had the programs Windows has, Linux would be a no-brainer for me.

Although I have not tried it yet, I've heard many good things about Windows 7. So if you're not an avid video games player (most video games will not work in Windows 7) and you meet the requirements to run it, I recommend the latter.
