There are some pens who's prices are like jeans or even rubber shoes.(13-20 dollars) Why are they that expensive anyway? Do they have magic ink in them, gold or something? I've just been wondering about this when I say these fancy looking pens in National Bookstore. I think they would right as well as other cheaper pens..

Well, I always seem to pay more for my gel and glitter pens. I think it's because they are harder to make. As for pens, I think it's just the brand name that you are paying for, you know just like the different brands of coffee.

yeah, I really don't like paying for the brand name too- everything just becomes more expensive (like bags, shoes, jeans, and even pens ) Still can't believe a levi's or jag shirt can cost 300 pesos even though the cloth is so thin and the quality ain't that good.

I would like to explain it this way.Formerly, say 50 years ago we used to go to the tailor to stitch our clothes. Then came the readymade clothes where factory made clothes were available to our sizes.Generally there was some problem with the fitting as the sizes were standard. Then came the brands which provided us with quality clothes which were a perfect fit. These brands which were the high fashion choices of the rich and famous were exhorbitantly priced and out of reach of the common man.In the same way one can get pens which are cheap but do not carry the tag of a brand. However high priced pens of makes like Rolex, Shaeffer, Mont Blanc etc have very high value and are more of status symbol use. The wealthy carry these makes just to show us common people that they have taste and are able to afford their high prices.Ultimately for us common people it is the use and utility which is most needed and we don`t care as the product works.

Hi dear, In fact, it is not just the case of pen, see whatever the product we have, there is a high class quality, branded, product of the same with 500 or more times of price with the normal or standard products. If we see the cases of certain cars, dress materials, jeans, watches, mobiles, shoes – what else not? Some are branded for antiques where as some comes with the prestigious class of use. Major classics and rare products are there with high priced and the companies are manufacturing only on the order basis and or manufactured for particular people only. The world is so weird if we thing of such things. We may think such things are a kind of madness, because there are thousand millions of people dying as they are unable to get one time food, while the millionaires are running after such watches and pens. Mere coincidence, what else we can say for it?? Best regards, Thank-s
