I'm so fed up with people responding with just a yes or a no instead of a real answer (which is against myLot guidelines) that from now on if I see that kind of response I'm giving them a negative rating. So, if you plan on responding to my discussions, make it more than one word or don't bother at all.

yesssss i usually tell them..those who respond to my discussions i nicely say please don't bother to answer next time if you have nothing to say,and tho those who start topics such as 'chocolate or milk'?(it was an example).and then they add "reply' or something...or do you like television and then they add 'yes or no'....i get frustrated and sometimes i tell themm to stop posting meaningless discussions, sometimes i am in a good mood and i advise them not to express themselves that way anymore,as people don't come here to say just yes or no..we are here to exchange opinions and share our thoughts..anyways..i do report abuse also sometimes...the last one was for somebody who started 7 topics with the same subject'please help me i wanna study in usa and i don't have money!!!!!!'..or something like that...this is all he did here, begging for money...so i reported him..i am not a mean person but i do by best to post quality comments and others ae just annoying

i started some topics on the matter myself, and people just don't seem to read what the discussion is all about,i started a topic where i said i will give report abuse to anyone who answers with one-word reply and guess what i've got?a one-word reply..lolllll...it's useless..the people we are trying to change don't even read so we struggle for nothing

I actually saw someone scold a member who replied with more than just a yes or no, which is what the discussion starter requested with his question. How immature is that?! Anyway, thanks so much for the lengthy and relevant response :-)

LOL i love that angry face. can we really give a negative for those with 1 liner, does it help? cos there's this member who answered to all my discussions with 'NO' and i'm getting really pissed off.

I've been told that when you give someone a negative that it takes away points. I don't know if it works or not, but everytime I get a response that is against guidelines like that, I give a negative to it. I often report them as well -- don't know if that does any good or not, but it makes me feel better. :-)

Yeah, I've heard that too. If positive ratings give up points, then negative ratings should take away points, right? You should report that member to myLot, they will delete his account.

I only report the people that I see repeatedly abusing the system or those that are being, well, not nice people.

I do the same also. I report and then I give them a negative. There have been some people that I have followed their responses from their profile and and reported them. This way, myLot will see the person as a habitual abuser. :)

Yes, that is annoying. SOme discussions are really annoying too. like 'What's your boyfriends name?' or 'what month were you born in?'...These really are not discussions!

I am jumping on this bandwagon! I try so hard to have some decent discussions and sometimes it just seems that people want to post yes or no questions just to get points for starting a discussion...not fair. I am in!

You can report these people, they are driving me mad as well. I can't see the point in one word replies when you're looking for a discussion.

That's true, I can report them, but if I reported everyone who posted a one word answer, I would be spending all my time on mylot doing it. I'm satisfied knowing that they don't get maximum payout from one word answers to begin with and that my negative rating will further decrease their earning potential.

I've also joined the bandwagon. And here's more stuff that has upset me: 1. Today I ran across so many discussions that had been copied word-for-word from someone else's discussion. 2. Also responses copied word-for-word from other responses in the same discussion and used as their own response. 3. Responses that had absolutely nothing to do with the topic. The person doing this had done it in at least 3 or 4 discussions that I read today. In all cases, I reported them. In fact, I think I reported someone in here for copying another response and using it as theirs.

I reported #4 for copying the comment from piratesbi in #1. Shame on them. Don't they have any original responses of their own?

I get upset with that too.. I mean come on now. Surely a person can at least write a sentance or even two. I think the quality is much better of replies now but there are still a few one loners and one worders.

I second the motion! I do admit to answering some of the more light hearted questions, but I do it for the fun of it and my answers are always more than one or two words. The people who start the "am I attractive" discussions strike me as needing some kind of ego boost. Thanks for posting guys!

would you like to borrow my billy club?? the officer that clubbed me with it last let it slip out of his hands, so i took off towards oak and vine. when i headed back home, it was in the gutter, so i picked it up and put it in my pant leg. needless to say a car load of honeys drove by and seen the "club" and wanted some.... but i since have washed it and its good to go. just tryin gto be helpful.... holla back.

I agree. I think if the admins come across a one=word answer they won't let the person have a point for it. I'd rather make more detailed comments that really help, these will be more useful and are more likely to get a plus rating. I'm going for quality, rather than quantity.

Thats pretty much the reason why i havent been on here in a while. More and more people are posting stupid discussions and when there are good ones there are a bunch of people who have one word answers. Yes its irritating but they are letting themselves down in the sense that they wont earn as much from there response... each to his own i say... :P

I totally agree, i usually put a lot of thought into my answers because if someone puts thought into asking a question then the least i can do is put thought into my answers, I started out starting discussions (a Few of them were Bad, as i didn't know any better), so now i just start discussions for things that i would like to know the answer to and that have not already been asked(if i can help it).

I try not to post yes or no questions too and I do my best to reply to my responders. I also give plus ratings to discussions that interest me, which are usually the only ones that I respond to. Oh, and you're welcome.

I know exactly how you feel! I especially love it when I ask something that IS NOT a yes or no question, and I get: "Yes, thank you." I already give them a negative rating and just don't bother to respond to what they said. If they can't be bothered to make a nice comment, then neither can I.

well, since myLot pays you money for replying, people will do that all the time - to increase their posting rate. It's like a 'side effect' of myLot policy.

Maybe so, but if they want to reach their best earning potential then they should be taking the time to respond with substatial and relevant answers. I see what your are saying though. Thanks for the response.

Amen! This is my first day here and I notice a lot of that, along with rediculous questions. Giving someone a negative rating for a short answer is exactly what the rating system is intended for is it not? Luckily for me I haven't had any of those people posting to any of my discussions yet. And good fo you for taking a stand. the rest of us should think about doing this also.
