Do you trust the UKAY-UKAY store?

Do you want to buy at Ukay Ukay? Why or why not? How do you know if the clothes are in good quality. Are all the clothes branded and second hand? Do you think it is safe to buy clothes at Ukay Ukay? I haven’t experienced buying clothes and other materials at Ukay-Ukay but then I would honestly tell that I can’t still trust the materials that are selling inside of it. I am afraid that it might have some defects, damage or there is something that is not safe on the clothes even if you are going to wash it. I would rather choose to buy in Tiangge even if the clothes and other materials are imitations or fake that I could still buy it in cheap price as long as I could feel that it has a good quality at least it is brand new rather than the used materials. Because there are materials in Tiangge that are in good quality

I love to buy in UKAY2X stores! I have the best and unique dresses during our acquaintance parties and I bought them from Ukay2x stores...I just make sure that I wash it properly and inspect the quality of the clothes before purchasing them though

That could be my consideration in case that someday I would decide or encourage myself to buy at Ukay Ukay just because of uniqueness that have never worn by other people.

Buying ukay-ukay is good, you should just be selective on the goods that your going to buy plus the price of it. A better thing to do after buying one is to have that washed in a laundry shop. In that way theres no more hassle plus your garment will be clean and the cost is very cheap.

I don't like ukay ukay because of the fact that those are clothes already worn by others. But I won't deny the fact that there are ukay ukay goods that are better in quality if you compare it to some of the local manufactured clothes especially those that you can buy from divisoria or baclaran. Also the fact that it is very much cheaper compared to buying something new. If you wash the clothes properly and if you know where to look you could really end up with a very good bargain. But then again we still have to take a look at the economic impact of ukay ukay if people will continue to patronize it over the local manufactured goods. In ukay ukay the owner only pays for the space being rented to sell the goods and nothing goes to the government as far as taxes are concerned so it's not really helping the economy.

Oh at least I've got some facts about the economy. And we have the same thoughts of not buying at Ukay Ukay. Maybe it the quality is really good but of course we don't have any idea of who worn it or how far it has gone before the clothes went to Ukay Ukay.

That's the scary part actually, not knowing who the previous owners were. They could have skin disease that we are not aware of and it can be transmitted to us if we don't wash the clothes properly. I heard that there are bacterias that can survive even if you already pour hot water in it so it's not really safe nor it is a guarantee that when we wash the clothes properly it's already free from contagious diseases.

I just experienced buying clothes from Ukay Ukay when my friend took me to one and I'm actually glad he did. If you have patience in looking for something good amongst the thousands of used clothes available, you may just find some gem. Clothes that look almost brand new with designs better than the samey ones you can find in every department store. I've gone twice more to other Ukay Ukay stores after that and have not been disappointed being able to buy a few jackets that draw looks when I use it in the office.

I do not shop at second-hand stores too for several reasons: (1) I cannot tell an original from fake clothing or accessories. Even if the label says Gucci, with the proliferation of really good fakes, I wouldn't know if it was a good buy or not. (2) I am a clean freak. I do not use clothes that other people have used, as much as possible. I don't care much for designer. I would rather own brand-new flea market items, than a second-hand designer label. Who knows what that blouse has been through? (3) It's still cheap to buy clothes here. Even the designer labels are still cheaper here than in the US. (4) Finally, I do not want to be labeled as a socialclimber. 'nuff said.

We have the same mentality here especially when it comes to cleanliness. Maybe it is true that there are clothes in market that are not in good quality but the point is at least it is still clean that never been worn by other people.

Come on people! It's called vintage! There are a lot of stores that sell second hand/vintage clothing items in the US! You just know what you like and what looks good on you. Yes, washing before wearing is a must, and that goes for stuff bought at retail stores too.

The thing about ukay stores is that no one can stop you from examining anything. I repeat: NO ONE. Not all of what they sell at ukay stores are fake. At the same time, not all of what they sell are ugly. In the last 4 years, I've worn entire outfits that are bought from ukay stores and people ask me where I get my clothes from. They're not branded, nor are they popular brands either. I shop at ukay stores the same way I do when I'm at a normal retail store at the mall: If I see something I like, I might buy something. If I don't see anything, I'll leave. Ukay stores are about quality and uniqueness. Go ahead and try shopping at an ukay store. You'll be surprised at what you'll find.

I know that not all the things that can sell in Ukay Ukay are fake. As just far as I know they are second hand branded that is already in cheap price. Maybe it depends on what kind of Ukay Ukay store because there are times that I could see some defects even if that is branded. But there is actually Ukay Ukay that I know which is located in Makati. I don't know if that is second hand branded clothes or if those things are only reject. I've already tried to buy there.

The truth we must accept when we buy ukay-ukay is that we are wearing clothes that already worn by other people. But some of the clothes or apparel are still good and more durable compared to the clothes which are sold in the market. I usually buy shoes at ukay ukay because most of them are original, nice designs and durable in a cheap price. Unlike, new shoes at the market which cost thouands which i cant afford to buy. My mom and neighbors are actually ukay ukay addicts..hahaha lol. Good Day!!
