Are you superstitious, and in what way?

Do you believe in any superstitions, good or bad? Do you have a lucky item or good luck charm, or do you avoid certain things to prevent bad luck? My personal superstition is that I always pick up pennies off the ground, for good luck. I definitely don't avoid black cats--we have one! How about you?

Well i do not believe in these black cat things but when i was younger my dad use too be a football steward and one day he came home with this lucky scarf. For every single football game supporting this team they have not lost one match and it have been too 27 matches and still counting for every match i go to.I am hoping one day they dont lose as then i dont think it will be as looky for some reason.I also dont like the number 13 it makes me feel weird and freaked even if my mylot status was at 13 i would have to comment on anouther thing so that i could make it 14 or i wouldnt write no more if i had too go and i would leave it at 12 and not make it 13.

Have you ever had to go to a meeting or anything on the 13th floor of a building? What would you do then? I know many buildings avoid the #13, but some do have a 13th floor.

I am not a superstitious person when it comes to black cats either, you can tell that just by looking at my avatar. However I am a big freak when it comes to negative thinking, if I have some bad thoughts things will turn out to be true most of the time, like the other day I was wondering what would happen if I have a car accident that same afternoon somebody cut me off and I almost got into a car accident, things like that.

I believe that too--if you put negative thoughts out there in the universe, you may be bringing the idea to life. I try hard not to do that, but of course sometimes you can't help it--everybody worries about something! I like your avatar, btw!

Yes we have a black cat too. have you noticed that in some countries they are good luck if they cross your path (here) and other countries they are bad luck. Poor thing cant win. I used to say a saying when I saw a white horse as it was meant to be lucky but my husband noticed that whenever I did this some little thing would happen that you call call bad luck. It took me ages to get over the habbit of doing it but when I did and saw a white horse and kept quiet low and behold I had good luck!

I think black cats get a bad rap generally, although you are right, in some places they supposedly bring good luck. Of course, cats in general are viewed in a mixed light--in some countries they are worshipped, and in some places are considered a nusiance (or worse!) What happens if a black cat crosses your path while you are looking at a white horse? Maybe you should conduct an experiment!

Definitely! I always avoid number 13 and I like certain numbers only (yes, including adjusting the volume). I also have some supertitious such as when you are walking alone in a dark place, don't turn back when you hear people calling your name. Too scary to think of! Thanks to watching too much movies :)

I like certain numbers, too--3 and 7, and pick them whenever I can. I'm not sure the other is being superstitious--sounds more like common sense to me. Maybe I've watched the same movies!

Yes, I believe in a lot of superstitions. I don't like the number 13 and I am sure I will never live on the 13th floor. I feel that Ghosts are associated with no 13. Whenever a black cat crosses my road I prefer to return back or else I spit on the road and then move on. I also believe that if some one taps on my head then I have to tap him back or something bad will happen. I am very superstitious and I believe in a lot os superstitions.

Are you able to walk under ladders? I know that one bothers a lot of people. How about Friday the 13th? Is that a difficult day for you? I have many friends and associates who worry about bad things happening on that day.

Yea I'm quite superstitious. My mother says that don't ever let someone use the mop or broom to sweep your leg or else you'll get bad luck. Including when I mop the floor for her, I will take good care not to let it sweep me. LOL. It kind of influenced me. I also believe that when someone taps my shoulder, I'll get bad luck as the two shoulders are equivalent to the lights of our life. Letting people tap means that they'll tap away the light and we'll get bad luck. I have a lot more but it's too much to list here so I'll only list two.

Hhmm--you and Wonga may have grown up in the same neighborhood--you both mentioned the broom and the tapping shoulder ones! Interestingly, although my son is probably too young to be superstitious per se, he cannot stand being tapped on the shoulder, although he doesn't mind being touched anywhere else.

Suzie- Yes and no. I still throw salt over my shoulder if I spill it, but I owned a black cat and never had any bad luck. However, my current cat who is a Siamese mix eats my wires, so maybe it's just a cat thing. Now, I do pay close attention to Feng Shui. Though it is not really superstitious I do know there are many who don't believe in it. I notice when we begin to have issues in one sector of our life that it is because our energies on the map are blocked by clutter or what not. Generally a good cleaning takes care of it and we no longer have any issues. Namaste-Anora

Yes, I believe in Feng Shui too, although am not that versed in its intricacies. On a purely emotional level, I know I feel more content whenever I get the house less cluttered, or finish a long-term project that has been going on for a long time. Cleaning out closets can be downright cathartic!

I am not a superstitious person and i believe more in god than superstition. Regarding number 13 i do not feel it is unlucky as my birthday is 13th August. I used to believe in horoscopes but not much of them nowadays. I have never felt that a black cat is unlucky instead love to see its jet black fur. I feel god given all numbers and things in nature are a gift of god and each has its own good. Why hallucinate about things make our life miserable when we have abundance to enjoy and cherish. Happy mylotting.

Good point, although I think it is ok to attach positive significance to something, as long as you don't get too obsessed over it. Many people wear a special piece of jewelry on a chain or something for just this reason

Well i do not really believe in superstitions, but due to watching too many movies, i think it's had some effect on how i think, but it's usually a temporary effect. I have enough problems without superstitions anyways :D.

well,i believe superstitions will definitely indicates someting in sometime, but will not all the time. we should not always believe in that thing, because it can mostly affect our mood, then affect our movements and decitions in making things. Maybe you will be worrying just due to the dream,in that ciscumstance, asking your parents or someone who have good knowledge or more, and that person may give you some good suggestions. that's my opinion. wish you good luck!

very good point--no superstition is worth worrying too much over, good or bad. That's why I never started the habit of carrying a good luck charm, although I understand why other people do.

I'm not superstitious person. I don't belive in 'supernatural power' of horoscopes, numbers, walking under the ladder etc.
