Dear MyLotters, Today is my husband's birthday and we don't have any plan for big birthday celebration. So, I am getting him a birthday present (a belt) and also a birthday cake for his birthday this year. For chinese tradition, we have to eat vermicelli soup (mee suah) on the actual day of birthday and my mother in law will cook it tomorrow. Is it a must to give a birthday present to your spouse? What do you think is the best birthday present for your spouse? Share your thoughts with me..Thanks!

Hi, First of all, happy birthday to your husband. You are a good wife , get him a present and a cake some more. WIll you cook on his big day or plan to eat outside? For Chinese, we have a traditional way of celebrate the birthday. We need hard boil eggs and dye in red color. We seldon cook mee suah on birthday but my mother in law does. For me, I hardly bought any present for my hub any more.. hehe.. Just that what he needs are enough. He is also the kind of man doesn't really fancy on birthday presents.

Hi Vingyan, Thanks for the birthday wishes. We just have simple celebration at home.My mother in law cooked Mee suah soup with chicken, mushroom and eggs. Then followed by cake cutting. The most happiest person is my son. He said that,it is also his birthday and he can't wait to eat the cake. Since my husband's belt is not in good condition,so I am getting him a new belt which he can use it to work...I always get something that he really need it,or else, I also won't buy any birthday present for my husband. Wjsucsess, Thank for your comments. I never go for big celebration for birthday..don't fancy over this kind of celebration, we will just either have simple meal at home or out for dinner, then cake cutting. Present is not that necessary, unless , we really need the thing in our daily life.

First of all I wish your husband has a great birthday. It is very kind for you to prepare anything so well for your husband. You are very careful and sweet and I am sure your husband will like it. My husband's birthday will be on this Wednesday. I already ordered a birthday cake for him. As to the gift, I am not sure yet because my husband seems not like receiving gifts. I love China

Hi, Thanks lot for the birthday wishes for my husband.and I also wish your husband "happy birthday in advance". I also get a birthday cake for my husband..a simple one and my son was getting excited by the time we went to collect the birthday cake and he can't wait to eat the cake. At night, we have simple dinner celebration and mother in law was doing the cooking. It is a chinese tradition to eat vermicelli noodle soup on birthday,so that was our dinner followed by cake cutting. I also got a belt as birthday present for my husband as his current belt almost out of shape.

Gifting your spouse? whoa !! A cute thing i have heard in a million years about this true Love... i adore this and whatever you have planned is really great. Only you know what does your husband needs now, so present him the same which he is in need of the current scenario.. Gifting cards or something related will not be a big deal.. Gifting the needed one is a nice way.. Celebrating with cake adds the better response....

Hi, For me, it is not a must to get my husband a birthday present. I would prefer to get him something that he may really need it,rather than something look nice ,but not useful to him. I hardly buy a birthday present for my husband, only this year, just nice his belt is almost time to change a new one,so I get him a belt as his birthday present. We just have simple celebration at home followed by cake cutting.

I don't think it's a "must" to get your spouse a birthday present on his/her birthday, but I do believe you should make him/her feel special. A card, maybe a massage, and definitely a card. I think wives would appreciate help with the chores around the house, and maybe a husband would appreciate waking up and heading to work with a car full of gas in the tank. Sometimes just little things say a lot...but yes, there has to be a card and acknowledge that it is their birthday!

Hi, I agreed with you that it is not a must to get our spouse a birthday present on his/her birthday. For me, I don't buy birthday present for my husband every year, but coincidence this year there is sales in major department store and his belt is not in good condition,so I believe getting him a new belt is the best gift for my husband.Apart from it, I also ordered a birthday cake for him. Just a small simple cake.and we have simple dinner at home. My mother in law was doing the cooking. For chinese tradition, we have to eat Vermicelli noodle on birthday. So my mother in law was cooking this noodle for all of us,with some eggs and another dish to go. We have simple dinner at home...and followed by cake cutting. The most important is we always live happily ever after.

ha! ha! ha1 vermicelli soup is really a traditional food for the Chinese Fujian. They will eat it especially during their birthday in the hope their life will be much more longer. About the present to your spouse, it can be in any form of present. ha! ha! ha! My spouse and I did give each other a present during our birthday. Seriously, the most valuable and unforgettable birthday present I got was serving nicely by my spouse during that special day.

Hi, I agreed with you that Vermicelli soup (or Mee Suah) is a very traditional food to be served during birthday ,added with red eggs. This year, my mother is doing all the cooking. She just cooked the vermicelli soup with chicken and mushroom. Then cook one more dish to go for it. We just have simple dinner last night. Then I bought a strawberry cake for my husband. We did the cake cutting after dinner. As for the present, I got him a belt since his current belt is not in good condition, It is time to change a new one. Actually, we don't fancy over birthday present..as long as we can live happily ever after..it is more than enough.
