Recent Freezing Weather in UK... Is there more to come? There is an up-side!

Silver Birch in our Garden - A are occurrence to have such a cold air-frost here on the coast.. But it was so attractive that I couldn't resist but to step into the "freezer" and take it..

The weather here, even in the south of the UK has been very freezing. According to my car temperature it was down to minus 7°C outside and when I got out of the car, it was like stepping into a freezer! We don't often get air-frosts here on the coast where we live, but just over a week ago we did and even during the day, it turned our trees white. It was so attractive as to almost make the bitterly cold wind worth it! Or perhaps not!!! I took a picture of the frosted silver birch in our garden... I am going to try and attach to this discussion, so hope it works... _Derek

Hi Derek! Noe, i know how you have been! I was wondering for a while about you and a few of my friends living in UK. You just take care and do whatever it takes to get snuggly and warm. May be, you can throw some my way. It's not really cold here. It should be though. Climate has changed over the years and I really miss my childhood when we used to wait to get into those warm woolens and go out in the sun, and not to forget the smell of the oranges. We get oranges throughout the year unlike old days. So less winter, less fun.

Thanks for responding Mimpi. Yes, I think I would agree that in order to really appreciate the warmth there are times when we need to be without it! In Zen, this is said to be living from your experience, or living from your heart in a non-judgemental way. For no matter what we judge, it will intensify. I we just accept whatever is so, then we will easily move on to the next experience. _Derek

That is a wee bit cold. It is 27 here right now. The area that I live in is so much warmer than what I am used too.

I don't think I'll survive long in a cold climate. I am so used to our tropical climate all throughout the year. My sister who just came back from a trip to UK told me even the hotel room with its heater on full blast still makes body numb. But I agree that the view of the frosted silver birch is so beautiful and we can only see that scenery in movies.

Thank for posting Bunnybon.. What a difference in out temperatures. It's hard to imagine warm temperatures. It almost feels like there is not such a thing as summer here at the moment! But I guess the scenery can make up for it. _Derek

Hi derek! That is a beautiful photo. I love silver birchs also. I live in NYS and it has started to get very chilly here too! No snow for us yet, but it feels like it will be here very soon. We had a few little snow flakes for a "tease" but hope to have some in time for Christmas! My favorite part of watching the snow fall is seeing how it sticks to the trees. I will try to learn how to work my digital camera a have my "computer guy" help me load them so I can show them this winter!

Thanks for posting and the kind remarks on my photo Opal. It's strange to see NYC having better weather than us. Usually we see the East Coast over full of snow, and then some months later it blows over here. All this cold is coming directly down from the arctic, so most of us are hoping for a bit of a wind-change. We've had a few days respite, but they say it's coming back towards the end of this week. This is a long winter I think. I look forward to seeing some of your photos later. _Derek
