The best music for us is what we used to listen to as a teen.

Well, most of the time that is the case. Like for me, I was a teenager during the 90's, and until now I think '90s music is the best ever. Especially alternative rock music back then. I still play them everyday! From STP, Nirvana, Gin blossoms, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, etc. But those who are in my age bracket appreciates it as much as I do! So am I right into thinking that the best music for us is what we used to listen to as a teen? What do you think?

Hi damned-dle. I grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s. And well to tell you the truth I have been always a weird kid, for some reason I have a thing for the past and when it comes to music I am 30 even 40 years behind. I love the Beatles, scorpions, among other bands from the late 70s and 60s, while my classmates were going crazy over Britney, I was living in the past listening to the oldies and until this day I listen to the same music I have added to my collections new musicians, some German bands from the late 80s but I have never developed a taste for today's music, not for Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. LOL.

Mine is a little funny. When I was younger, I used to hear adult radio channel. Another words, I have totoally no idea what is the famous teen boyband etc etc. Instead I hear romantic songs and this was what happened to me. Until now, I still like songs from 80's and 90's for that reason.

I'm like you. Classic Rock is what I grew up listening to (through the 70s and 80s). My tastes have expanded to all sorts of music, but classic rock is what I usually fall back on. One thing I noticed about a lot of kids nowadays though. I'm a guitar teacher, like most music teachers, most my students are kids. When I started teaching, I thought the kids would keep me up to date on the latest music. In fairness, a few have, but most of them bring me songs from when I was a teenager.

I am still a teenager and I started listening and watching MTV when I was 13 maybe or 14, then I filled my iPod with 100s of songs at first until now it's 1,000 plus. I do like some old music of Linkin Park still because they always sounds good, I don't know how the next generation would react to that. Some young people do love the classics too, well, except me. I still have new favorite songs regularly cause I am very updated.

Well, I don't know know all those you mentioned here. Obviously, we were in a different teen age.

I agree. The best music for us is what we used to listen to as a teen. I think that's because we relate to that songs than the songs that are not released in our time. Like how our parents prefer frank sinatra, elvis presley, beatles and beegees than music our time like alternative, pop, rock and songs of lady gaga, lifehouse, all american rejects, amber pacific and others.

I used to listen to pop music, chinese pop music. I seldom listen to them now, as I'm not addicted to korean pop more. But the times when I used to listen to chinese pop, is memorable.

Well I can only speak for myself here but I really like this music that I am listening to now better than what I used to listen back when I was a teenager. It was way too angsty. Now it's more like angry lol :D And back then it was mostly rap and it's sub-genres like horrorcore. Now I have more wider tastes.

I agree and disagree. I was a teenager in the 80s, not the 90s, but I think 90s music is better than most 80s music. (I also think 70s music is better than 80s music). So I agree with you that the 90s was definitely a solid decade for music, but I don't agree that we all like best the music we heard as teens!

I was exposed to 80's music but my fondness is with the 90's too. Alternative bands, The Verve, Fra Lippo Lippi, among others.

I'm still a teenager. I'm 16 years old. And yes, I think the best music is what I listen to right now. I hope that in the future I continue listening to these bands I like now. My favourite bands are Demon Hunter, As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada and some other metalcore/hardcore/deathcore bands. I really like this music, and I can't imagine me listening to another musical genre like other people do.
