Honesty is the best policy; honesty pays in the long run. All these are some of the age old proverbs related with honesty. But is there anyone who can define honesty?

The best definition that I can come up with for honesty is a person that is trustworthy. The honest person is someone that doesn't lie and doesn't only look out for themself. An honest person is someone that tells the truth and doesn't mind that there are times that the truth can be hurtful to another person. In addition to that, an honest person is someone who maintains their integrity through all facets of their life.

Honest can be and is the best policy the lot of times. However, the truth can hurt. Honesty is giving people the truth of how it is, without any dumbing down. It can come in very forms, but it is just what happened, in an unbiased manner. So really when looking at that definition, it is really hard to say that any of us are honest, due to the fact that humanity in general is very biased.

All I can say is that being honest you don't have to remember All the lies you have told.

Most of the times, honest is good. If you are honest, you are impressing people about your trust and reliability. Then only you will be more popular in dealing with other people. Sometimes, honest is bad too. Should you be honest to burglars by telling all of your assets to them? Of course, No. This is our own judgement for the time to be honest and dishonest.

Honesty is good but not overly honest though. Nobody can be totally honest in life, because it brings more harm than good. LEt's say, u promise your close friend to keep their secret and not telling anybody about it, yet at the same time, u told your wife/husband that there will no be secrets between the two of u. How will u react? What will u do? How are u going to fulfil your honesty to both parties? No way right?

honesty is something that cannot hide or pretend. Honesty about something is always a quality that most of the people have but hard to maintain it. What i mean is that a person can be honest to himself and to other people, but may be tempted one day to break the seal.

doctordidi so ma ny people fiddle faddle around using half truths so if honest came up and bite them in the butt they would not recognize it as they have not been really honest in a long time. honesty is telling the truth in all ways, being honest with others no matter what the cause or situation. always being truthful in all you do , tactful but truthful. honesty will not use any lies, only the truth.

Honesty is telling the truth and reality of a given situation. It keeps us on a good path and is the best policy. Truth and being forth right is what honesty is all about. Honesty is black and white, not grey. Honesty is easy, lying isn't. Honesty gives you a good reputation and lying does not.

Honesty can be defined in so many ways and naturally honesty would be the route to go. However how about being too honest and hurting someone in the process. So I suppose honesty has to be at all costs as sincerity would be the fairest.

Hi DoctorDidi! Yeah i agree that you need honesty and integrity in order to achieve success in your future. Cheating might benefit you if you don't get caught but if you do, your name would be dragged through the mud. But cheating also leaves you with a guilty conscience. Even if you did become successful through cheating, it wouldn't be counted as your own effort and you won't be able to really enjoy the rewards of your labor. After saying all this, i would like to say that honesty is the ONLY policy.
