I'm looking for inspiration and have a lot of time on my hands. I seek a story about overcoming excruciating struggle, learning life lessons and fulfilling dreams. So, what are the inspirational books you've come across?

I find the short story Honey Pie by Haruki Murakami to be really inspiring. If you search for it, you should be able to read it for free online. I also find the novel The Life of Pi to be a very interesting and inspiring book, and I highly recommend reading it.

Well, sugarissweet, I would have to say the Bible is the most inspirational book I've ever read. And it has all the requirements you have listed. You will find people that have overcome excruciating struggles, there are many examples of learning life lessons, and stories of many dreams fulfilled. It has everything you you are looking for.

The most inspirational book I ever read was the story about Abe Lincoln! The fact that the man taught himself how to read, raised in a one bedroom cabin, and was successful in almost every job that he ever had is mind boggling. I also enjoyed reading about George Washington Carver, and his development of the peanut. Great reads. Lastly...lol, my own life story :)

i'd say "THE ALCHEMIST" by paulo coelho, this is a very inspiring book, since it's about personal dreams and believing that your dreams will come true, you just need to have faith, patience, and the will to do what you want in life.

Lady of the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas son,Darkness, by Miguel Unamuno and Blue Flower by John Galsworthy are books that I enjoyed most. I can not appreciate one more than the other.

I work in the autism community, so the most inspirational story I have ever read is the book "Mother Warriors," by Jenny McCarthy. It is compilation of stories of several mothers of children on the autism spectrum who spoke up for their kids and found treatments for them that most of society disregards.
