There are many different kinds of essential oils, rose, jasmine, lemon grass, and so on. People say that essential oils, the odour of the oils, help improving mental health, relief from depression for instance. Have you heard about it too ? Do you believe that essential oils help mental health ?

Hi greenline! How are you? I have used essential oils before, but I have never felt any particular feeling from using them. I know that they are supposed to have "calming powers and healing powers", but I just found them to be pleasant smelling depending on where I got them and the different types. I had purchased these rings that you put around a light bulb and then add the essential oil to the ring when the light bulb is on. The heat from the light bulb heats the oil and gives off the fragrance and fills the room with the smell. It can be very pleasant. I like jasmine and sometimes patuli and lavendar if the are not too sweet. I don't like anything to floral and sweet.

i think they can be helpful, but you probably would need to identify the problem accurately to know which oil to use. most mental health problems are caused by emotional problems, the root of which lies in the past. so if you are able to accurately identify the problem you want to solve then you could probably find the right essential oil to help you. i find it quite helpful to relate an emotional issue to a chakra, as i am always amazed by how a problem i have can coincide with a particular chakra, for example if you are feeling a bit powerless your third chakra might need some help, or if you feel a lack of entitlement then the base chakra may want some help, though i think all emotional problems benefit from healing the base chakra first. you could then chose an essential oil that is seen to be good for that chakra. but i think it is important to identify the cause of problems, as understanding why we feel bad is the most important step to feeling better, but essential oils are a useful tool in helping us to feel better.

I use geranium and jasmine essential oils to lift my mood when I need the occasional lift and lavender to help me relax at night even if I don't like the smell of it.

I've heard about the many benefits of essential oils. In fact, I have a few of my own. I use them for various reasons. Some to combat cold/flu germs, to deter bugs from my house, and some simply for the pleasant scent.
