Nowadays, most students rely on their computer when they are studying, and researching stuff for school. they are substituting books with computers. i think books are still very important, because they are more complete than those that can be found on the internet. Of course the information that a student could find in the internet using the computer varies, but only a couple is reliable. not everything in that could be found in the internet is reliable. i prefer books than computers because books makes the student study more, but computers do not. it just make them dependent on them.. what do you prefer? books or computers...?

Hi cuttyrish! I agree with you. Students are so dependent on computers that they don't even bother looking at their books anymore. Personally, i feel that books are much more reliable because people sometimes copy encyclopedias and put the same information on the net. So the real source really comes from our reliable books. However people might feel that the books are to heavy to be dragged around with them and opted for the internet instead. It really depends on the individual.

i do agree that it depends on the individual, but they should still make it to a point not to completely rely on the internet. thanks for your response.,

Also, many online sources of information were copied from books. That could, potentially, end up like the game "telephone" you play around a campfire. The truth could be in the book but by the time it gets published on the web the story or facts could be completely different.

I will go for the books as well...Even if books are not 'that' portable, but somehow books are easier to make us concentrate to study because with a computer in hand we are greatly tempted to do something else, like Facebooking, playing games etc...

If a person is tempted or not or might loose concentration depends on the selfcontrol and motivation everyone has got to study or not. To study is also a responsability we have during our live, so we might question how responsible we really are. But you are right, it is very easy to get tempted.

I like books very much. when I want to do some serious reading, I prefer books. there are too many information flooded from Internet. people are easily be distracted by the various informations. however, computer has its advantages. internet are update every second. what's more, compare with books, internet resources are massive and cheap. so in a word, computers or books? that's depends

Books are more important, I prefer them too. But Internet can be very helpfull when you need certain or specific information when you are studying. On internet you can find suplementary information very fast, information you can print out and include in yout books you are studying. You also can use internet to get in touch which other students or teachers when you need help to understand some points you need to be explained.

I honestly prefer both because I admit that using computer makes it faster for me to search something sometimes. There is a time that I would rather read the book to find some information when I get bored of using computer. Have a nice day

during my college days i prefer to used both. coz there some information that can only read & see in the books. there are lots of author who publish their writing only in the books not in the internet. yeah, it is true that internet is more resourceful and more easy but in the books there are also information that are only in the book.

either medium you pick - people are reliant on them for information. I guess what you're trying to pinpoint is stop laziness among students and encourage industriousness when it comes to finding information. On terms of reliability, both mediums are the same - they both fail. Information found in books cannot easily updated nor rectified; internet information is instant but usually lacking in detail or process. The medium doesn't make a person study more. The medium just provide information to be consumed. Whether the information is accurate and usable is the question and it is the duty of the researcher or the student to discern this. I agreee that the proliferation of information on the internet are sometimes false but it is not bad to rely on computers or the internet as long as the and information content is true sound and reliable.

I prefer reading the book because the book has a lot of information and you can be sure that the one who have written it is a true writer unlike in the internet today where people only base the facts in what they know than what it is really proven in the book. I think it is also better to based it in the book because you can be sure that no one will revised it anytime.
