So, who's been watching "Sarah Palin's Alaska"? I certainly have NOT, but it's been impossible to avoid the continuous highlights played on every news network over and over again. It seems like in each episode she has to make some sort of political statement. In the latest installment, she gave First Lady, Michelle Obama, yet another dig as she prepared to make s'mores, falsely claiming that Michelle said we shoulden't have dessert: http://www.tvsquad.com/2010/12/20/sarah-palin-attacks-michelle-obamas-anti-obesity-campaign-then/ Right before that she attacked the media, which doesn't carry too much weight considering how she's invited them to follow her and her family around so she can make more millions...lol! How about it, is she helping her case for the Presidential nomination and election by attacking someone who has much higher approval ratings than she does? Annie

"So, who's been watching "Sarah Palin's Alaska"?" I have, I love out door and travel shows. Aside from the occasional political snipe every couple episodes, that's exactly what this is, an outdoor and travel show dealing specifically in Alaska. " but it's been impossible to avoid the continuous highlights played on every news network over and over again" Then stop watching MSNBC. As far as I know that's the ONLY one showing "continuous highlights". I haven't seen any on Fox or CNN. It would not surprise me in the least MSNBC is running the "highlights". Although, since there politics is largely non existent on the show...you aren't seeing much of the actual show in these "endless highlights" other than the very rare political stuff from the show MSNBC is showing. "falsely claiming that Michelle said we shouldn't have dessert" True, Mr.s Obama did not say those exact words, but her sentiments are more than amply implied on more than one occasion...like, what kind of person proposes a ban on bake sales? Seriously? "How about it, is she helping her case for the Presidential nomination and election by attacking someone who has much higher approval ratings than she does? " I really don't think she gives two shyttes either way.

Actually, I HAVE seen highlights on CNN and on HLN, on Joy's show as well as on MSNBC. I have no problem with travel or outdoor shows, but why is Alaska "Sarah Palin"s" anyway...lol? Maybe she COULD have pulled it off if she hadn't QUIT halfway through her term as governor...just a thought. Seriously, Michelle Obama didn't propose a ban on bake sales. Sarah doesn't give two shyttes about the truth either, does she? http://mediamatters.org/research/201012220006 Annie

"Actually, I HAVE seen highlights on CNN and on HLN, on Joy's show" I'm not surprised the most un-aptly named women in talk show history is doing it either. CNN and HLN are the same news network. Either way....big deal. There really isn't much to run. It amounts to a few seconds out of hours of programming. "but why is Alaska "Sarah Palin"s" anyway...lol?" The show's title is "Sarah Palin's Alaska"....in other words "Alaska , as seen through the eyes of.." Eesh, seriously, now you're really grasping at straws. It's basically her and her family traveling around Alaska, showing off it's attractions, highlighting some of it's industries and it's people and their way of life. With the exception that it is more remote and wild...it reminds me of home. The people and way of life there seem very much like where I live. Maybe you should watch it annie. Maybe then you might realize there are people and ways of life out there that exist outside your comfort zone and your definition of society. "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than exist in your philosophy" ~Shakespeare "Seriously, Michelle Obama didn't propose a ban on bake sales" I took liberties....I know she didn't really literally propose a ban on bake sales, I should have gotten you a sarcasm detector for Christmas. HOWEVER....I'll see your media-matters... and raise you an Associated Press: http://hosted2.ap.org/APDefault/8ef5320729ce4298abefc1903704c7d5/Article_2010-12-03-US-Bake-Sales/id-5321294162324cd7b0928fbd842f85c2

Oh yes, they can limit bake sales and the language in the bill is so broad that they could even ban them altogether. The legislation would apply to all foods sold in schools during regular class hours, including in the cafeteria line, vending machines and at fundraisers.

I really liked the remark that Sarah Palin made about the first lady and her food issue. I do not think that the government has a right to tell us what and how to feed our children. Nor do I think a school sends home a exercise sheet to tell us what exercise that our children should be doing on that day and we parents have to sign off on it. Michelle Obama needs to stay out of what our children are eating. i do not need the government telling me what to feed my child. Maybe Michelle Obama should take lessons from Sarah Palin on parenting. Michelle did say we think dessert is a main course. Her food program that just passed is nothing more than an entitlement program that is paid for by taxpayers. Maybe all the people on entitlements should take hunting lessons from Sarah. I do not think it is about approval ratings I think it is about what the government is doing trying to control all we do and budding their nose into our parenting is way tooooo much.

sarah's right. what business does the government have in suggesting healthy foods for our kids while they're in school? a pretty subversive action, if you ask me. and encouraging exercise! you would think that there's a problem with obesity in this country. sarah appears to be anti-anything that gets her press coverage. would it kill her conservative values if she agreed that schools should exercise some judgement in the foods they provide our kids? wouldn't sell as many books or feed her followers appetites for dumb.

Have yet to watch "Sarah Palin's Alaska, but I have seen some out takes from it. In one clips she talked about how hubby made an addition to their fence, and opined that the federal government should build a border fence. Of course the air head that she is failed to point out that building a fence requires money, labor, and land usage. Oh I need to stop there before I keep pointing out the hypocrisy of every conservative who wants to build a border fence. So now she is attacking the first lady, because why exactly? Did I miss something, does the first lady actually have political power. So what if Michelle doesn't think we should have dessert, she can't make you stop eating desserts. Sarah it is called an opinion and a cause, it has nothing to do with politics. I have yet to read where Michelle is driving around with a squad of elite stormtroopers to prevent private citizens from eating their dessert.

Mike Huckabee, hardly someone one would expect to be a huge fan of Michelle's, came to her defense and pretty much put Sister Sarah in her place. Huckabee had his own weight issues and knew he was risking some serious health problems so he changed his lifestyle and eating habits. He knows it's really in everyone's best interests to eat healthier diets and exercise more. Neither he nor the First Lady can make anyone skip dessert or stop going to Mickey D's but I sure see no problem with some good common sense advice. I thought Sarah was all for "common sense". Annie

Personally I never saw it as an attack, but rather a light joke. I make jokes about San Francisco every time my wife buys a happy meal. The difference is, there is no camera and no army of hate-filled morons out there just waiting to pounce on me for such comments. FYI, I'm not calling either of you that, but you are both well aware of the sites dedicated to spreading hatred towards Sarah Palin. "I sure see no problem with some good common sense advice" Yes and that advice could be given through classes that teach children about eating healthy and getting exercise. Sadly, any such classes have been canceled in most school districts because math, science, and reading have somehow become a bigger priority than having a functional heart or the strength necessary to do more than 1 pull-up. So no Annie, none of what is going on right now is advice, it's typical nanny-state crap so the government can raise our kids for us.

speaking of snarky...... Ya know Annie, you seem to watch more about Sarah Palin than I do. And I support her! lmao. The Child Nutrition Bill is an overreach. It is NOT the Federal Governments job to "take care" of everybody. Let me refer you to this funny little ditty - http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/constitution.html Now, in this little "antiquated document" it is outlined what specifically the Federal Government are supposed to do for its citizens. I looked through it and I'll be dipped, I cant find a stinkin word about school lunches. Please take a moment, give it a browse and show me where it says anything remotely close.

You're CERTAINLY not accusing ME of being snarky, are you...lol? Seriously, in a way I'd LOVE for her to just go away but I'll be honest, I'd love it MORE if she were to be the GOP Presidential nominee in 2012. I'd have to invest in earplugs or just press the mute button and turn on the CC whenever she came on the air, but it would sure be a blast and a guaran-damn-teed win for the Democrats. Annie

Read the Preamble to the Constitution. "promote the general Welfare" is part of it. I'd say providing healthy school lunches would fall under that category.

Hi anniepa! I have unfortunately been seeing a few "clips" of her doing "interviews" on some news shows here and there. I can't even stand the sound of her voice! Yup! "Nails of a chalkboard! She has nothing nice to say or straightford either. When asked about her "running for President" in the next election, she just "dances around the question" as she does with everything she's asked! Whe the hell would even consider her a serious candiate running the Country?

I know, between that high-pitched screech of hers, her irritating way of tryin' to sound like she THINKS ordinary people talk - you betcha - and the way she meanders from one thing to another in a single sentence and makes no sense whatsoever, the very thought of listening to her for an entire Presidential campaign as long as the last one makes me cringe. Doncha know she'll make the sacrifice if the American people think she's the only one that can do the job...lol! Annie

...Hi annie, She does that for her poor base, I say poor because anyone who admires her is sort of lacking in observing the idoitic stuff she rambles off. When someone as smart as Jeb Bush says she doesn't know the issues she and the people who follow her around should pay attention. But it's about money and her ego. I love it that Michele is ignoring her and showing class that Sarah probably doesn't even know how to spell. Oprah answered a question during an interview when she was asked if she was worried about Sarah becoming president, by saying no, she wasn't worried because she thinks the American people are too intelligent. Well, go toe to toe with the big O why don't you Sarah? I believe she is jealous of Michele. One of her potential rivals for the GOP nomination Mike Huckabee, said on the radio that Sarah had it all wrong, that Michele was not trying to run anybody's life by telling them what to eat, she was just stating the obvious, that we have an obesity problem. Truth is not one of Sarah's friend's, she is out to make news and money. Cheers. Happy holidays.

....Hi annie, I corrected it because it was ironic that I was saying in the comment that she couldn't spell and I messed up the word. I could hear her patrons shouting look who is criticising someone's spelling, one in particular. So la vie. Have a great day. Cheers.

Michelle Obama's crusade against "obesity" has been fodder for comedians for a while now. What made it offensive when Sarah made a joke of it? What is it about Sarah Palin that elicits such reactions from the left? I know there are names that elicit reactions from the right, but the only one I can think of that gets the same level of ire is, maybe Jane Fonda. Sarah Palin has never hurt anyone on the left, but there are many on the left who would celebrate if she were raped or even murdered. ((no, I don't consider you one of them. I do wonder about your venom against her.. but I don't see it as anywhere near that extreme.))))

Ted, it really isn't "venom" I have against her. Nor is it hatred, fear or jealousy. I'm not even, as another poster said, fascinated by her, or at least I don't think I am...lol! I am, however, fascinated by the way Sarah Palin brings out such passion in those who adore her. I find it both amusing and amazing! I sure can't speak for the rest of the left, meaning I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I really don't see the kinds of reactions from the left that they're always being accused of by the right, or more precisely by Sarah's fans. Has anyone SAID they wish she were raped or murdered that you're aware of for sure, Ted? If they have, they're despicable and I mean that. What I DO see a lot of is people like myself who simply can't figure out why anyone would possibly take her seriously as a candidate for ANYTHING or even as a political analyst. Also, many of us wonder what makes HER think she should be taken seriously. I guess I should at least try to answer your first question since you took the time to respond and to ask it; I suppose it was offensive when Sarah made a "joke" about the First Lady because it was meant to offend. Late night comedy hosts are able to make jokes about public figures and then graciously interview them days later but I can't quite imagine Sarah EVER being gracious to Michelle, can you? Annie

Sarah Palin, like most Americans, doesn't want other people telling her what her children can and can't eat. I don't see any problem with that. It's not like she attacked Michelle Obama personally. She simply stated a disagreement with her political stance, and it's one that has been VERY public as I'm sure you know.

I get it - it's that slippery slope that only slopes to the left...lol! If schools stop having vending machines selling soda and all kinds of junk food it won't be long before McDonald's and the other few thousand fast food restaurants will all be closed down! Taskr, I know you're a lot younger than me, but believe it or not, when I was in school there were no soda, candy or chip machines in the cafeteria or anywhere in the school. There were milk machines and one that sold ice cream bars and sandwiches and that was it. That was in the high school; there were no vending machines in the elementary schools. We had a pre-selected menu for lunch each day and that's what we got. There were no choices such as pizza or french fries every day. Nobody complained because that's just the way it was. I happen to agree with you about kids spending too much time sitting on their butts, by the way! Annie

That "encouragement" is designed to lead into crap like banning salt, happy meals, fast food restaurants, and other crap being pushed by the far left. Michelle Obama has clearly been pushing to BAN vending machines and various foods from schools. That's not "encouragement" by any stretch of the imagination. Of course none of it addresses the real problem which is how much time kids spend sitting on their butts instead of exercising.

Anniepa, I don't think I've ever seen anyone so fascinated by Sarah Palin as you and tries so hard to give the impression you're not. Who cares if Palin has a reality show on television, who cares about her opinion of the media, who cares if she makes s'mores for her children in spite of or in honor of Michelle Obama, who cares which lady has the highest ratings? I know, you do. Will these "attacks" hurt her chances for the Presidency? Palin's opinion of Michelle Obama is not what will or won't get her the nomination for president, if she decides to run.

I do not watch Sarah Palin's Alaska. Personally, I have nothing against her but she says the most ridiculous things sometimes. And the media is lapping it up. I mean, you couldn't get through the news without mentioning what Sarah Palin did or said this time. Anyway, I think being on a reality show does not help her bid for the presidency. It could totally backfire on her.
