Does anyone else have Italian food for Christmas?

My family always has Italian food for Christmas and I just wonder how many other people have this tradition. My family is from St. Louis and when my grandmother was young, they were friends with people from the large Italian community there. My grandma got a recipe for a very rich meat sauce that takes 10 hours to cook from a lady there, and ever since we make this pasta every year for Christmas. We also have other nice things like olive salad and chewy bread. I know in the US the most traditional thing to have at Christmas is turkey or ham, but who else does something unique?

Sorry, nothing unique here - same old turkey for us. However, when my sister asked my nephew what he wanted for Christmas dinner he said "Lasagna!" She told him turkey was the plan.. not sure why she even asked! Italian would work for me and that sounds really good too!

oh yes we certainly do, in the Philippines we always have Italian dishes in the menu for Christmas but it is I would say more Americanized in nature ,spaghetti and Pizza being the most popular, but we are no strangers to the other pasta dishes like pesto, carbonara, lasagna, vermicilli etc.. but the real authentic Italian or true Italian is reserved for those who are in the somewhat upper class cause or upper middle cause it is quite expensive to eat in an Italian Restaurant, even if you adopt and learn to cook authentic Italian ingredients would still be expensive and above reach of ordinary people besides not appreciating it so much. Filipinos have somewhat also adopted to make it suite their taste, so there is Filipino style spaghetti sauce and believe it or not it is made by Del Monte!, much sweeter, Poorer folks would would settle with catsup in pasta, may sound awful to some but to them it's already a feast, tried it so as not to offend feelings and somewhat good hehe, ya and it's not tomato but banana catsup

Banana catsup? Wow, that is something I have never seen. I'd be interested to try it just to see what it's like. I didn't know Italian food was such an expensive treat in the Phillipines.

I am English and live in Italy. I have been here for over thirty years and I much prefer the Italian food to the British. I have the choice of preparing either English or Italian here and for most of the time I prepare Italian, including Christmas.

Not exactly Italian, but my chicken did have a good handful of oregano thrown in, with paprika and thyme in a tomato sauce. Not really Christmas dinner but tasty!
