Because of that one stupid subject!

Hi myLotters! I am a High School student and a candidate for becoming a Valedictorian of our batch. We have this policy in school that when one of the subject's final rating is lower than 85, you will no longer be in the Top 10 of your class. My grades in all subjects are flying colors except for one. We will start our fourth and last quarter in a few days and are waiting for the results of third quarter. For that one stupid subject, I got 86% during first quarter and 81% during the second quarter. And I admit I really really messed up with our third periodic examination on that subject! Oh goodness. I really hope I could deliver a speech before the school year ends because I want to recognize and thank many people in our school. Thanks for the time reading!

You know what, it doesn't matter if you got below 85 in one subject because the basis of choosing a valedictorian is the average of the grades you got from different subjects. Although that one subject will affect your average grade but only a little. So even if there is a said policy it would not still be a valid reason for them to remove you from the top 10 or being a valedictorian candidate. Your grades will reveal everything that you are worthy to be a valedictorian and that is all that matter. Remember, average grade is the basis not the policy.

By the way, I would like to add that the policy in your school is inconsiderate and questionable. What if I got 99, 99, 99, 99, 99, then 84 in one subject? because of the policy that mean I don't have any choice but to follow the policy ignoring the effort I made from other subject? If this is the case then you can file a report on higher education.

So basically to did not get the 85 average? In that case there is nothing we can do. I thought yesterday, you got high grades in other subjects but you fail to be in the top 10 because of 1 subject. If we calculate let say you got (85+86+90+91+80)/5 you will still have 86.4 which not bad. By the way, what is the qualified average to be in the top 10? or be a valedictorian in your school?

The policy says that top ten students must not have a final rating below 85 so you will average the four grades. so (99+99+99+84)/4 is higher than 85 still. I hope so that they would not follow the policy and consider my efforts made. Thank you thank you!

We are the same. I also had one subject behind the others. I'm always getting 91-93% in that subject while my other subjects were 96-99%. But it didn't blocked my way for being the valedictorian. There is just one thing I hate for being a valedictorian. That is when I would delivers a speech. I hate that because I'm a shy person.
