If your a renter then this question will interest you.We just moved out to our house last 2 years ago since my mom and dad decided to sell it and now we are renting a townhouse.Just this morning I just discovered that my mom is delayed 4 months which means she did not pay for 4 months! My dad knew it as the owner of the apartment went and ask if everything is ok.Good thing is,his son is my bestfriend.I felt scared and confuse as I wanna ask my mom why she did not pay and why she did not tell us.She just keep her mouth shut and didn't say a word. What's shocking is,the owner of the townhouse did not bothered to get angry and just told us "I will just make the 4 months Christmas gift"Just make sure you will pay by first of January, that was a relief and never expect there are really still good people around.Normally owners will immediately throw you out if you are late for 1 month or 2.I feel lucky and bless this year.I nearly wanna cry since we are in the middle of crisis. How about you?have you experience delays?Share you story.

Well, you were really blessed to find such good samaritan who really have the spirit of Christmas in their hearts. But just like you, wondering what was the reason of your mother in doing so. It could have been a big problem for the family if it happens that you have a not-so-good landlady. And probably, it could be your friendship with his son that saved you from that crisis. Just remind your mom not to let this happen again. Happy holidays.

I am indeed happy that he give us credit but I don't wanna tolerate it since I know his family need money also so I we decided me and my fiancee not to accept it as a give and pay back as it will be be ashame for my family. It will be only respect I have so I want to keep it so people will trust me.I just don't know what's with my mom.I really don't understand her situation now.

hi insulin I hope for all your sakes you will get it all sortedout fy January first. What a sweetheart your owner of your apartment building is as we got behind one month when my son lost his job and we could not scrap up enough money to pay all the rent, he wou ld not budge but just gave an eviction notice. so now after two years I have to live here in this retirement center as I do have my social security and ssi checks as i am partly physically handicapped while my son who was stillout of work got gov. help to get into a gov.paid apt. with three other men all out of wo rk. he has a parttime job now but still not making enough 'oney to be able to get us into an apartment again and be able to pay the rent. when I got stuck here we were sure it would only be for a short time but the economy only got worse so now at 84 I am so hoping we will have a much better new year and he will get a really great job. so we really hit bad and worse and worst. but the economy just has to get b etter now. I am so glad for you and your parents that your l andlord was so kind and yes I think you are blessed. two and a half years ago I never dreamed that all this horrible stuff would happen to us.

Hi hatley, thanks for the response,I talked to my fiancee about this and he told me not to accept the Christmas Gift the landlord gave to us as it will be slap in the face so we decided to double the payment by january till march so we can pay the 4 months delay. When my mom knows about it,she just shut up and not say a word since it will be me and my fiancee will handle the problems around.I hope everything will run ok.

asliah this a good thing you do to keep the communication and amicability open. As when you have issues it keeps them informed. I am sure that they so appreciate it. As so many simply do not say anything and make things worst. Good for you and hope you have a blessed New year.

I suppose in defense to your mother she did not want to worry other family members and or was way too embarrassed, which in fact was the wrong thing to do as perhaps you all could have helped sooner. We are not late at all, but I do know others, particularly my boyfriends mother. She lives in another state and tried to refinance her home with the new stimulus packaging that were offered two years ago. So instead of continuing to pay the mortgage she spent the money and two day before Christmas she confessed she had not paid her mortgage for 18 months. Oh MY GOD, is all we could think as none of us could help with 18 months of mortgage payments. So I got on the telephone with the mortgage company, and we agreed to payment plan that now my boyfriend and I will be responsible for a very long time. I cannot believe she was not foreclosed sooner and why on earth did she let this happen. Ugh. But she is responsible for future payments as this is all we can do which will now hurt us financially.

I have accepted that if she defaults it will further hurt us, for signing the agreement to have her caught up. But I love my boyfriend very much and well if his mother defaults again, this will be her problem. As although she is his mother and he loves her, he too says this is the last straw.
