I'm hoping someone here can help me figure something out. I have been trying to sell some Miche Products on Ebay for a while, and it's not going to well. I started the asking price way under retail value (even the buy it now option is cheaper than you'd find elsewhere) and I'm not getting any bids! I got a lot of "Watchers" on my last attempt, and this attempt I already have 5 "Watchers," but no bids! I don't get it. Clealry people are interested in my product, and since they are watching it they must like the price...so why is no one buying?? Thanks!

When I sell things on eBay, I usually "watch" a similar product first, before I post mine. That way I can see how much they are selling for, or if they are "hot". That is just one possiblity of all the "watchers" you have.

Oh dang! I didn't think about that. But it's just hard for me to believe that all of my 20 watchers are doing that...is it possible that's all it is? And I haven't tried yet, but is there a way to see who is watching my product?

I don't think there is a way to see who is watching. Some people just like to compare the items by putting them on the "watch list". Or some even "pretend shop" putting a bunch of things on their watch list, then never go back. Or if they do buy, they may choose a seller with the higher rating. You just never know. Good Luck!!

Oh yeah, that's one thing that bums me out. I have a good rating, but only 5 people have rated me, and most of those are from people I have bought from, not sold too. So people don't know that they can trust me!! It sucks! lol Thank you for all the info!

Hi Lily, I was reading where you said you only had 5 feedbacks? This might be one reason..people might be leary of you and might feel it could be a fake item. It could be your description of it, or it could be in there are others at a lower price. Ebay is quite challenging nowadays and it's not so easy to sell items anymore on there if the price is even just a wee bit high. The economy isn't what it use to be and people are hanging on to their money. And don't forget too, people have been buying gifts for other people at this time of the year, not so much for themselves at Christmas time. Or, it also could be if it's a Used product, sometimes that makes a difference too in comparison to a brand New product. Lots of factors to take into consideration. But, don't give up hope yet...now might be a good time to relist as Christmas is over so people are looking for deals for themselves after the holidays. I've been buying and selling on Ebay for years and you really need to know the "ins and outs" of it. I've had the same thing happen to me where there are plenty of watchers, but no bids. It takes time and it takes the right person who wants your product. If you'd like, you can "PM" me with your Ebay name and I would be happy to check it out for you and do some research to see what's going on, and try to find out why the products aren't selling. I'll be happy to help you in any way I can, no problem. And don't be so hard on yourself, it might not be you or your product at all...it's just a hard time right now for people..

Yeah I don't sell often on Ebay, that's why I don't have a ton of ratings--but all 5 of my ratings are positive...lol. I added pictures of my stuff that people know it's real. I didn't even consider it being around Christmas. But all the other miche products are selling like wildfire on Ebay! So I thought mine would too! Thanks for the help, I've sent you a message with my link :)

Hi LilyoftheThorns and everyone, I had a thought about the rating issue mentioned by Kashmeresmycat. I think this is related. When I first started buying things on eBay about six years ago, I found many people selling super cheap ebooks for a penny a piece. I bought some and left fantastic feedback, cause it was such a deal. To the person selling the product, it only cost the price of the auction. I'm assuming they already owned the ebook or got it free from someone else. My point is that I think some sellers spend a little money selling super cheap stuff like one penny or one dollar ebooks and that inspires the buyers to leave fantastic feedback and then the rating soars. Have you considered that idea to boost your credibility on eBay as a seller? Hopefully that idea will help you out. Best wishes on your future eBay endeavors.

Hi again Lily, Don't worry too much about only having a few excellent feedbacks, but it was just a thought. I "sometimes" pass people up who are newer because they don't really have the knowledge and I'm not sure if what they have is authentic or not. I buy old vintage postcards from the early 1900s and when there is no date on them, it's a possibility that it's a reproduction so I don't take the chance. Not always though, just sometimes. Ok, I'll wait for your PM, so far it hasn't showed up so I'll give it some time to do so. I'll do a little research for you and see what I come up with, if anything. You might be doing everything perfect, and it's just the luck of the draw..we'll see. If I don't get your message soon I'll let you know.

I pretty much stopped selling on ebay. We cut up our credit cards and fees and costs too much. I won't use Debit. I do have a bank account tied to the ebay account but When that Meg woman took over she pretty much ruined Ebay they just kept adding more and more fees and it got to where I was not getting enough money after all the expense and fees to make it worth my while. Then you always have your cheaters, liars and scammers. Giving you low ratings and doing bait and switch on your or get mad because they did NOT read the entire auction and got what was described and shown in the photos but said it was not what they wanted. I pretty much now just use craigslist to sell and buy anything to many people are not fair or honest and ebay just got way to greedy. I don't even know what it is our selling what is a Miche Product never heard of it. As to watchers, most are comparing to see what or if your item sells. One or two might start bidding the last 12 hours but if you get no bids then no one is interested in buying. I got tired to of going to yard sales and people trying to sell items at ebay prices. Hello if I wanted to get it off ebay I would not be at your yard sale. Want ebay price sell it on ebay not in your yard sale. Then too people are just fickle when it comes to buying and or selling one day one items is hot and another time something else is.

1. How long have you been a member of ebay, and what is your "reputation" there? One cause of people watching and not buying could be the length of time you have been a seller on E-bay, and how many reviews from completed transactions, if you have any. 2. Are you Paypal Verified? Many will not do business with any seller who does not have a verified paypal account attached to their e-bay account. 3. Have you lowered the price way too much? It could be that some believe they will get ripped off, if the price you've quoted seems unrealistic for what you are selling. I can't think of any other reasons why a person wouldn't want to buy what you have, but maybe these will give you a good start.

I have been a member of ebay for a while, but bought more than I sold. I only have 5 ratings, but they are all very positive. I am a verified paypal user, I love my paypal! :) I don't think the price is too low at all, nothing that would make people leary. Thank you! :)

I must be out of the loop because I have no idea what Miche Products are. I'm guessing the people that are "watchers" are probably waiting for the price to go down super cheap and aren't real serious bidders. Have you tried selling things on Craigslist? I have sold some things there but even there some people act all interested and then at the last minute drop out.

Yes, I've listed the Miche products on Craigslist 2 or 3 times. no luck :/ Miche is a new purse idea...there are the base bags, and then you get 'shells' which are outside designs that stick to the bases magnettically. It's a cool product, and I still like my Miche...I'm just selling because I need the money (i am keeping my base bag and my 2 favorite shells).

Now that you explained what it is, I do remember seeing them on the home shopping channel. They looked pretty neat too.

Without being able to see your ebay listing, I can't really say for sure if there is anything that could be improved on the listing itself. I've been doing ebay for quite a while now but only as a buyer. I've never sold anything there. As a buyer though, I look for the most comprehensive listings when I'm looking for something. I like to see a lot of good quality pictures and a complete description with as much information about the product as possible. I do know that you need to pay close attention to the tags or search terms when you put in a listing though, so people can find your product. I do searches all the time to find something in particular and if the person doesn't have the key words that I search for, their product won't come up in the results. As to the "watchers", most of them are probably just that, watchers and not buyers. A lot of people will watch products just to see what they sell for, especially if it's a unique or out of the ordinary item that they don't know much about. I have pages of items in my watch list but I'm not bidding on any of them. It's just research in case I want to buy a similar item in the near future. I've seen some odd things happen on ebay though. I've seen items that don't get a bid on one listing and then when the seller re-lists it, it will sell for a pretty high price. I guess it's a little hit and miss in that it all depends on who happens to be looking for products like you are selling at the particular time you list it. I'd try it again now. Maybe there will be more people looking this week being right after the holidays, they'll be looking for deals.
