Funny story

I know, I have LOTS of funny stories about the cats - but here is another one. Just to get you up to speed... I had a friend die a few weeks ago. Her roommate, who is also a friend, wanted to get together and we did so today. She reached into her bag and pulled out an action figure from the Xena show, but it was actually of Gabrielle. I guess P didn't realize it was Gabrielle until I laughed and said: "Look! Its Gabby!" and showed it to the roomie. Now, I have a cat we named Gabrielle - Gabby - for Gabrielle. When we first got her she was terrorizing the big cats and we considered naming her Xena, but then again a friend down in the valley had just named her new cat Xena, so we went with Gabby. At that time we weren't sure when or if this friend was moving up here - but that's currently on hold at least until her mother passes away. Still, at that time we weren't sure, and didn't want to chance having 2 cats with the same name. (this is why we didn't keep Diva's name Patches.) Well, 6 months later we got Gabby spayed and while talking to this friend we discovered that Xena hadn't been spayed yet and was driving her crazy with her crying and stuff - but she just didn't have $100 to spay her. So, for the friend's birthday that year, we sent the money to get her done. BUT, because we are such funny girls, we had the card sent FROM Gabby to Xena! So, here I am with a Gabby action figure and a cat named Gabby crying at the door driving me nutz! So, that's my crazy cat story of the day - you have any crazy stories?

I heard an interesting story today, it is not my story. On Tuesdays and Thursdays our local radio station has a local talk show. A couple who are well known in town host it. The station manager made comments that they had a cat story, and listeners and people calling in were nudging them to tell their cat story. These people have two or three adulty children, who have all come home for the holidays. They brought their pets. They said they had four cats and a dog running around their house all week. One of the cats got into an air intake vent for the house and got trapped (not sure how). So their daughter calls them at work and told them and then said, "Daddy, I am just going to call 9-1-1" He said he told her ememrgency services do not do cats, but they had someone come in and knock a hole in the wall to get the cat out. Someone told them this morning, "Well, that is okay, you wanted to remodel anyway."

That is funny... Yeah, 5 years ago - almost 6 now - when Taj was stuck in the tree, I called the fire department and they don't do cats in trees anymore. The roomie called her dad, because my 6 foot ladder wasn't tall enough to get him out of the tree, tho I could reach up and pet him and put some food and water up - but he had already been in the tree for 5 days. So her dad came out with the nephew (who was the REASON Taj got out in the FIRST place) and he wanted the kid to go up the ladder for the cat. Well, Taj didn't LIKE the kid, so I had to go up, and we were doing JUST fine until the MORONIC dog next door started barking.

I thought of a sad funny, but I will not go into all the details. My mom had to be away from home when her sister had knee surgery. My niece was caring for the pets, but the house had a flash fire. They thought all the pets were gone, but the fireman found one cat. This kitty was a Siamanx, marked like siamese, even black or dark brown tail/stub. She did have some smoke injuries, but the fireman that found her did not know what kind of kitty she was. He thought her tail had burned off.

Great story. I love Xena and Gabrielle...heheheh. Banjo gave me a good chuckle the other day. He was sprawled all over the table...(it's hot here) and a friend came to visit to show me some paperwork. He had to spread it out. Now, he does not like cats and was quite befuddled because Banjo was in the way. He started putting the pages ON Banjo. Banjo was pleased. You know how they pay lots of attention to those who don't like them. He started to purr and stretch out even more and was being careful to keep the papers intact while trying to smoosh with J. He was being so delightful. With the papers all collected again in one stash, Banjo gently reached out a paw, claws extended. J touched the paw then stroked him a little. He reached out again and gently held onto J's arm. He didn't know what to do...he kept saying "look at those sharp claws" but he would stroke Banj a little tho tentatively. Banjo was being an angel. I was so proud of him. I'm sure when J left, he had an entirely different opinion of cats...mine anyway.

I'm still telling him. He is becoming better behaved, smoochier, communicating better for the last little while and I'm ever so pleased with him. Mind you, he's taken to running jumps and landing with a slide on counters and tables and stuff. He used to saunter up to where he wanted to go and effortlessly spring up. Now he will take a running jump from about 2 or even 3 metres away. He is knocking stuff down a LOT including a nearly full bottle of bubbly on New Years Day!! How did your Mom react to Suky...could she see the funny side? Did she feel very special, blessed even?? LOL.

Mom thought it was terribly funny, but didn't dare laugh until the friend left. I would walk thru the room and remove the cats, but they always came back, B was just irresistible to Cat and Suky, and, remember, Suky was not that fond of people.

did you tell Banjo he was a good boy after your friend left? Yeah, cats love those people who hate them or are allergic. I've been to people's houses where they say "that cat doesn't like anyone," and then they find me petting the cat. Because cats know the allergic person, but they don't know I've been effectively treated either! But you want real heaven for a cat, the allergic cat-hater! My mother had one, she wasn't terribly allergic, but Cat and Suky were all over her when she came over! And she was the ONLY person Suky ever did that too!

I don't have any as funny as that one. The best one I can do is that I am having trouble waking up my youngest daughter because one of the teacups has recently taken to her. Taken to her to the point that when I turn on her bedroom light and say it's time to get up..he begins to growl from beneath the covers. When I walk to the bedside...he comes shooting out from who knows where and trys to nip me!!!! Rotten little devil is in love.

Yikes! the roomie's dog growled at us when she used to let her sleep with her - but that came to a stop because she never was really house trained, crate trained, but not house trained. She would go out of the bedroom (the crate) and pee in the kitchen, so now she gets locked in the bathroom.

Valentino, an indoor/outdoor cat, has a bad habit of climbing -in- the bath with me. Sometimes he goes wading. Other times, he uses me as his pool float. And purrs. I tried to keep him out of the bathroom, but with all the piteous meowing and scratching at the door (and staring under it through that little gap), it was actually easier to just let him in. I did periodically have to fight him to get into the tub, though. He's apparently not very good at sharing.

Lol...that's really cute! I have so many crazy cat stories I could write a book but then again, I have a lot of crazy cats. The best one for now would have to be the story of Lucy... First, a little background info: my daughter has several cats and about a year ago she had one male cat that had yet to be fixed and one female who hadn't been spayed. The best solution at the time seemed to be for me to take in the female since I only had one male, who was neutered when he was very young. So, Bippy came to live with me and my other four girls and one safe boy. Well, a couple months after I took Bippy in my granddaughter called me all excited and asked me if I could PUHLEEEEZE take her best friend's half-grown kitten because her mother was threatening to throw her outside. Angela knows I'm a sucker - both for her and for kitties I'm afraid are going to be hurt in any way. This kitty's name was Lucy, another female. No problem, right? WRONG!! Lucy turned out to have a bit of a nasty streak in her and she didn't get on well at all with the other cats. She was always picking fights, even with my boy, Squirt, who has the gentlest, sweetest nature I've ever seen in a "tomcat", but even he got pretty irritated now and then. Lucy also got into the habit of getting on top of my girls like a male cat would. Of course, that was no problem since my girls were all fixed, except for Bippy who was still quite young and hadn't gone into heat yet, as far as I knew, right? WRONG AGAIN!! I think as long as I live one of the most shocking moments of my life will still be the night when "Lucy" was on top of Bella, on of my other girls, who wasn't at all happy with the situation. I grabbed "Lucy" and pulled "her" off of Bella and that's when I saw...IT...a tiny little pink thing. Go ahead and laugh at me, everyone else did, but I'd never seen a cat's "thingie" before...lol! Needless to say, Lucy's name got changed - to Lucifer. I called my daughter first and got her voice mail and then called my granddaughter and told her the news. My daughter called me back minutes later in amazement. We all didn't know whether to laugh or cry because now there was the matter of Bippy... I then did everything I could to keep the two separated but apparently I was too late because a few weeks later Bippy started to gain weight. Soon she had four adorable kittens, all of which got good homes except for the black fuzzy one which is now a new addition to my daughter's family because she couldn't stand to part with her. As for Lucifer, we found him a good home on a farm where he's nowhere near the road and can go between the house and the barn. I DO miss him still, but he really wasn't like my other babies. He showed me affection now and then but he also gave me quite a few bites and scratches. Thankfully, from what I've heard and seen, his offspring have pretty much inherited their mama's sweet nature! Jason the sock king steals them and walks around with them in his mouth. The other day he got hold of Dearra's bra. She was just really happy that nobody else saw it before she did. I pointed out that if she put her laundry away, that wouldn't happen. She replied that it was easier to just shut her door.

Maggie was soaking a pair of undies in the bathroom sink when Leontyne fished them out and was next seen dragging them into the living room, lucky for Maggie, she was alone.

mine is a bit sad but still rather funny. many yrs ago when my youngest daughter was 12yrs, shes 37 yrs now, she was always rescuing cats. one day she was hanging out up at the laundromat and 2 boys ran in dropped something into a washer, started it up, laughed and ran. it was at the other end of washers so she didnt see what it was. curious, and its a good thing, she went and looked. it was a cat alive!! she pulled him out, he was a skinny little thing. brought him home dried him up and we fed him. she named him Joe, for some unknown reason and he ate always like he could never get enough. he was constantly eating so someone must have starved the poor thing. he started getting fat and fatter, the other cats had to fight to get any food unless i watched them eat anyway i told her we should rename him fatty, since he got humongous. lol. we ended up compromisibng and calling him fatty Joe. lol.

She sounds like a gal after my own heart. I was always trying to rescue critters, but my mom wasn't as accommodating!
