At the risk of sounding uncaring and mean: I hate the ASPCA commercials that lay a huge guilt trip about how animals are so abused and mistreated, and how we should give them money or adopt a pet.
The other day I was listening to the radio and the local ASPCA was running a "special" adoptone pet and the fee for the second pet will be waived. To me this seems counter productive considering that many holiday pets are abandonded as soon as they are no longer cute and cuddly.
It is not that I do not care about animals, I have adopted every pet I have ever owned, but this organization is spending an outragious sum of money on advertisment instead of kibble.
Are there any comercials that drive you crazy?

I am an animal lover, but those commercials are way overboard and distasteful. I hate them too. They could put the money into taking care of more animals for sure! But I know it's weird but I hate the kit kat commercials. One of my per peeves is crunching and I feel it's so rude to annoy people with the sound of others eating! It's just gross..

I think your kit kat aversion is funny (in a nice way of course). I can understand though, I teach 11 year olds and if they have been tapping and generally noisy for the day I avoid anything that might be like the noise they make.

My aversion to hearing the sounds of people eating sure made it easy to catch my students in the act during class!! That and my keen sense of smell blew them away every time!! They thought I had some sort of super powerslol!!!

Aha, i agree with you. I hate the way they make you feel bad about some dog somewhere, when there are thousands of children in africa who dont even get safe drinking water! I mean, i swear i saw an advert, for a donkey charity, for donkeys in thrid world countries!
Other than this, i hate the current John Lewis advert, i dont even get how this relates to the john lewis brand. It is this advert involving a women sort of growing up. But john lewis sells clothes???
And the go compare advert is annoying
That said, i do like the compare the meerkat adverts, they make me laugh so hard

There are children at the local schools that do not have food unless the school provides it. So I agree that perhaps we as people should focus on what is important. After all, when all people are taken care of then they will in turn take care of the animals in their lives.

Regardless of the charity, the money spent is out of line. Personally, I would support local programs for animals and for children first. I do help with poverty in foreign countries as well. i do it through my denomination, where the money is accounted for. I even participate in extra projects throughout the area. A very large number of commercials are lame for various reasons.

It's funny that I came across your discussion today okkidokitokki!
Earlier today I seen an aspca commercial three times and they tend to drive me a little crazy.
I already have two dogs & a cat & if I were to send the aspca money, I wouldn't have enough money to feed my own pets.
I think you're right, they could use the money they use for the commercials for better things to take care of the animals.
