I am a high school student who currently does school online. Now i have been thinking a lot about the future (i'm quite random) and do you think public school could possibly be gone in about 10 years. And every learning child in the world wuold be attending school on the computer? So many students are switching from public school to online so rapidly. Hardly anyone attends school here anymore.

I think it's a good option. But just like the class room doesn't work well for every student neither does online learning. Some need more feed back and interaction than online learning can provide. But others can get annoyed with the classroom setting and just long to get their work done! I think it will remain a healthy alternative though!

I don't believe public schools will be gone, due to the fact that there are just some things that are much easily taught in real-life rather than over the internet. However, I do believe that there will reach a stage where public schools will be gone, however I much rather prefer a classroom learning experience. This is because I find it more interactive, as I am a kinesthetic learner (learn-by-doing). Also, it's alot easier to concentrate at school, then it is at home due to the fact that there are less distractions.

I don't think that online schooling will completely take over the public learning, especially in college. I'm sure there are students like myself who much prefer an in classroom learning experience. I tried one online class and I did horribly, ONLY BECAUSE of the fact that it was online. I do much better in classroom environments, and I'm sure there are many other people like me.

I doubt online schooling will ever be taken seriously the way a brick and mortar university could. I mean if you get on your laptop, take some classes, and get mailed a diploma, do you deserve the same respect as someone who worked hard, applied for college, got accepted, went to live at a new place, worked hard for at least four years, and got a diploma? Does University of Phoenix have the same prestige as University of Texas? I don't think so, and that's the main reason online schools will never overtake traditional schools.
