Do you believe that at their core, or at least at their beginnings that all people are good people inside and those that become monsters or predators have lost the ability to tap that innately human and good part of themselves or they refuse to accept the goodness in themselves and seek to rid themselves of it by their monsterous actions. When something is innate though, that means that it is a component of all creatures of like type and kind or that it is one of the bedrock firm basic components that we come with like eyes. That would mean that no matter how evil someo9ne has become, or what they have done, if they can be made to tap that inner heart of goodness they can be redeemed and reintegrated into the family of man.

Yes. I do believe that people are innately good. However, I disagree that all people can be "redeemed" and reintegrated. Some people have severe mental illness that prevents them from being able to function in society. Sociopaths, for example, will be sociopaths forever, no matter what treatment is given, they just simply cannot change.

Well I guess a lunatic is not always insane. Anyway, good point and that is why I don't really believe in religion myself.

Since I am a Christain I say no. The bible clearly teaches than man is not innately good. And that there is nothing we can do to achiveve that goodness in Gods eyes, thus the need for a savior.

The acceptance of the savior is the final step but still if your works are evil then you are evil. But do you not believe that people are born good people and that life and mental illness and things change that to turn them into monsters or do you believe that we are all evil born evil and destined for evil but for the saving grace of God?

The bible tells us we are born into sin...meaning we are innately evil. You do not have to teach a child to sin.

to be honest, i believe in the innate human goodness. i am pretty sure there is something deeper there that can be redeemed. something that if knocked correctly will make the person show the inner goodness.
