Opinions please on an idea

After visiting win prizes online now for over a year and seeing how many blogs are giving away stuff, I have decided it may be a great idea to try this myself. People have to subscribe in order to enter your give away. They also should visit a site, one that you will get paid from your affiliate link, and they must post about what they liked about said product.
These are all things that I have been seeing at all of the free prizes through blogs. It would help to make a good steady income. It would help to get money from Adsense, and at the same time I would end up getting subscribers. Most of the ones that I seem to be visiting as of lately have over 500 subscribers all of which seem to be active since they must post in order to win.
Do you think this would be a good idea?

i think it is a great idea... if you can implement it, then you can get lots of traffic to your blog which will definitely help you to boost your income... good luck for that and hopefully it will work for you... take care and have a nice day...

I may give this a try and see what happens, one never knows maybe I will get a good response. I will however try it on a newer blog and that way it will be separate from what I would normally do, this way I can see how much the one blog makes. If the cash is good then I will work my way up to having a few blogs doing it.

Your idea is great. Do you want to give away digital products -- podcasts, videos, photos, e-texts... -- ? If your stuff is interesting, I am sure that you will get a lot of subscribers and that you can expect good results with this strategy. Have you read "Free" by Chris Anderson ? There is some nice pages in this book on the art of making money with "free" stuff.

I figured at first I would try giving away a DVD that I have that is brand new and never opened, then maybe the CD I have later on, I will see about trying to give out ebooks, and maybe even software or scripts that way it can be world wide. Rather then having to just have the give away for U.S. residents only. No I have never read that before, but I am pretty sure that lots of money can be made just by giving away stuff.

It's a great idea, and it should help you get a decent mailing list of subscribers. I've done that on a blog that in my mother tongue, and it worked like a charm. People keep coming back for each month's giveaway.
On my English blog it's more difficult to implement because the audience is from all over the world, so I cannot give away products, I'd end up paying more in postal fees. I'm thinking about giving away free ebooks, but somebody would have to write them, which surely won't happen if I chat and post on myLot instead of getting some writing done

Yeah I believe if you do a give away its best to make sure that people realize its only available in your country. I spent about 3 hours in here yesterday when I could have spent that 3 hours posting at my blog, oh well life could be worse.
